SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR URGENCY BASED RESOURCE DISTRIBUTION
A method of organizing media content is disclosed. The method for distributing resources includes a plurality of resources, generated in accordance with consumer-directed attributes of at least two consumers, at least one desired criteria limiting the ones of said plurality of resources available for each of the at least two consumers, an urgency rate, generated in accordance with the consumer-directed attributes and provider preferences related to the plurality of resources, and a distributor that distributes to one of the at least two consumers certain of the plurality of resources according to said urgency rate.

2 . A method, comprising:
monitoring metadata for media content as the media content is being presented through a hub device;
determining, based on the monitored metadata, a first instance of when preemption of the media content is to occur; and
preempting presentation of the media content based on the determination of the first instance of when the preemption is to occur rather than preempting presentation of the media content at a pre-defined time.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein preempting presentation of the media content comprises:
switching from a primary channel on which the media content is being distributed to a different channel on which different content is being distributed; and
switching back to the primary channel at an end of the different content.
4 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
monitoring a level of listenership over a time period after preempting presentation of the media content;
determining, based on the monitoring, that listenership has fallen over the time period; and
in response to determining that the listenership has fallen over the time period, continuing presentation of the media content rather than preempting presentation of the media content at a second instance of when preemption of the multimedia content is to occur.
5 . The method of claim 4 , further comprising:
determining that the level of listenership has increased to a specified listener threshold; and
in response to determining that the level of listenership has increased to the specified listener threshold, preempting the presentation of the media content with other content.
6 . The method of claim 2 , wherein:
determining a first instance of when preemption is to occur comprises determining that preemption is to occur just prior to presentation of a portion of media content that is considered popular based on a number of downloads; and
preempting presentation of the media content comprises presenting other content just prior to presentation of the portion of media content.
7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising limiting an amount of media content that is considered popular during a given time period.
8 . The method of claim 2 , wherein preempting presentation of the media content comprises causing presentation of other content.
9 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions, that when executed, cause one or more processors to perform operations including:
monitoring metadata for media content as the media content is being presented through a hub device;
determining, based on the monitored metadata, a first instance of when preemption of the media content is to occur; and
preempting presentation of the media content based on the determination of the first instance of when the preemption is to occur rather than preempting presentation of the media content at a pre-defined time.
10 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein preempting presentation of the media content comprises:
switching from a primary channel on which the media content is being distributed to a different channel on which different content is being distributed; and
switching back to the primary channel at an end of the different content.
11 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , the operations further comprising:
monitoring a level of listenership over a time period after preempting presentation of the media content;
determining, based on the monitoring, that listenership has fallen over the time period; and
in response to determining that the listenership has fallen over the time period, continuing presentation of the media content rather than preempting presentation of the media content at a second instance of when preemption of the multimedia content is to occur.
12 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11 , the operations further comprising:
determining that the level of listenership has increased to a specified listener threshold; and
in response to determining that the level of listenership has increased to the specified listener threshold, preempting the presentation of the media content with other content.
13 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein:
determining a first instance of when preemption is to occur comprises determining that preemption is to occur just prior to presentation of a portion of media content that is considered popular based on a number of downloads; and
preempting presentation of the media content comprises presenting other content just prior to presentation of the portion of media content.
14 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 13 , the operations further comprising limiting an amount of media content that is considered popular during a given time period.
15 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein preempting presentation of the media content comprises causing presentation of other content.
16 . A system comprising:
one or more processors; and
one or more memory elements including instructions that, when executed, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
monitoring metadata for media content as the media content is being presented through a hub device;
determining, based on the monitored metadata, a first instance of when preemption of the media content is to occur; and
preempting presentation of the media content based on the determination of the first instance of when the preemption is to occur rather than preempting presentation of the media content at a pre-defined time.
17 . The system of claim 16 , wherein preempting presentation of the media content comprises:
switching from a primary channel on which the media content is being distributed to a different channel on which different content is being distributed; and
switching back to the primary channel at an end of the different content.
18 . The system of claim 16 , the operations further comprising:
monitoring a level of listenership over a time period after preempting presentation of the media content;
determining, based on the monitoring, that listenership has fallen over the time period; and
in response to determining that the listenership has fallen over the time period, continuing presentation of the media content rather than preempting presentation of the media content at a second instance of when preemption of the multimedia content is to occur.
19 . The system of claim 18 , the operations further comprising:
determining that the level of listenership has increased to a specified listener threshold; and
in response to determining that the level of listenership has increased to the specified listener threshold, preempting the presentation of the media content with other content.
20 . The system of claim 16 , wherein:
determining a first instance of when preemption is to occur comprises determining that preemption is to occur just prior to presentation of a portion of media content that is considered popular based on a number of downloads; and
preempting presentation of the media content comprises presenting other content just prior to presentation of the portion of media content.
21 . The system of claim 16 , the operations further comprising limiting an amount of media content that is considered popular during a given time period.
