Abstract

Communication network architectures, systems, and methods for supporting a network of mobile nodes. As a non-limiting example, various aspects of this disclosure provide communication network architectures, systems, and methods for supporting a dynamically configurable communication network comprising a complex array of both static and moving communication nodes (e.g., the Internet of moving things) including a real-time, event-driven data model. The disclosure can relate to access points, including those related to autonomous and non-autonomous vehicles.

Claims (53)

1. A system comprising:

a server, comprising an event driven model, configured to perform:

communication with a mobile access point (MAP) associated with a vehicle;

downloading of rules corresponding to the event driven model to the MAP; and

requesting, according to the rules corresponding to the event driven model, of at least one event report from the MAP,

wherein the server is configured to determine a timeout occurred when:

a pre-determined time has elapsed without the server receiving a second event report from the MAP after receiving a first event report from the MAP; or

a pre-determined time has elapsed without the server receiving an event report from the MAP after requesting the event report from the MAP.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the server is configured to perform reception of the at least one event report from the MAP.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the server is configured to perform sending of requests to the MAP to send event reports autonomously.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the server is configured to perform sending of requests to the MAP to send event reports based on specific events.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the server is configured to perform:

sending of a request to the MAP to send one or more detailed reports; and

sending of a request to the MAP to stop sending the one or more detailed reports.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the server is configured to perform generation of the event driven model based on one or both of:

previous events received from one or more MAPs; and

indirect sources of information.

7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the indirect sources of information comprise one or more of:

user logins;

traffic data;

Wi-Fi logins; and

on-board diagnostic data for the vehicle.

8. A method comprising:

communicating, by a server, an event driven model with a mobile access point (MAP) associated with a vehicle, wherein the communication comprises:

downloading, by the server, rules corresponding to the event driven model to the MAP;

requesting, by the server, at least one event report from the MAP; and

determining, by the server, an occurrence of a timeout, wherein the timeout occurs due to one of:

a pre-determined time has elapsed without the server receiving a second event report from the MAP after receiving a first event report from the MAP; and

a pre-determined time has elapsed without the server receiving an event report from the MAP after requesting the event report from the MAP.

9. The method of claim 8 , comprising receiving, by the server, the at least one event report from the MAP.

10. The method of claim 8 , comprising sending requests by the server to the MAP to send the at least one event report autonomously according to the rules.

11. The method of claim 8 , comprising sending requests by the server to the MAP to send the at least one event report based on specific events according to the rules.

12. The method of claim 8 , comprising one or both of:

sending, by the server, a request to the MAP to send one or more detailed reports; and

sending, by the server, a request to the MAP to stop sending the one or more detailed reports.

13. The method of claim 8 , comprising generating, by the server, the event driven model based on one or both of:

previous events received from one or more MAPs; and

indirect sources of information.

14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the indirect sources of information comprise one or more of:

user logins;

traffic data;

Wi-Fi logins; and

on-board diagnostic data for the vehicle.

15. A method comprising:

communicating, by a mobile access point (MAP) associated with a vehicle, with a server comprising an event driven model, wherein the communication comprises:

receiving, from the server, rules corresponding to the event driven model;

sending, according to the rules, at least one event report to the server; and

receiving, from the server, an occurrence of a timeout, wherein the timeout occurs due to one of:

a pre-determined time has elapsed without the MAP transmitting a second event report after the MAP transmitted a first event report; and

a pre-determined time has elapsed without the MAP transmitting an event report after receiving, by the MAP, from the server, the event report request.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the communication comprises sending, by the MAP, one or more detailed reports to the server.

17. The method of claim 15 , wherein the communication comprises sending, by the MAP, the at least one event report to the server autonomously according to the rules.

18. The method of claim 15 , wherein the communication comprises sending, by the MAP, the at least one event report to the server based on specific events according to the rules.
