Abstract

A liquid crystal display device provided with a liquid crystal display panel having a pair of transparent substrates disposed to face with each other via a liquid crystal layer, and a backlight unit disposed on a back surface of the liquid crystal display panel for radiating a backlight ray is configured to have a plate member opposite a side wall surfaces of the liquid crystal display panel and a side wall surfaces of the backlight unit. The plate member is fixed to the side wall surface of the liquid crystal display panel and the side wall surface of the backlight unit.

Claims (61)

1. A liquid crystal display device comprising:

a liquid crystal display panel including a pair of substrates; and

a backlight unit disposed for radiating a light to the liquid crystal display panel;

wherein

the backlight unit has a light guide plate, a light source, and a frame unit,

the frame unit contains the light guide plate and has a wall portion,

one substrate of the pair of substrates has a first side surface,

the wall portion has a second side surface, which is an outside surface of the backlight unit,

a plate-like adhesive member, extending from the first side surface to the second side surface in continuity, has an adhesive surface which attaches to the first side surface and the second side surface, and

the adhesive surface does not protrude into a gap between the first side surface and the second side surface.

2. The liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the first side surface and the second side surface are arranged in a first direction,

wherein the pair of the substrate has a thickness in the first direction,

wherein the wall portion has a thickness in a second direction which is orthogonal to the first direction, and

wherein the thickness of the wall portion is less than that of the pair of substrates.

3. The liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the first side surface and the second side surface are arranged in a first direction,

wherein the light guide plate has a thickness in the first direction wherein the wall portion has a thickness in a second direction which is orthogonal to the first direction, and

wherein the thickness of the wall portion is less than that of the light guide plate.

4. A liquid crystal display device comprising:

a liquid crystal display panel including a pair of substrates; and

a backlight unit disposed for radiating a light to the liquid crystal display panel;

wherein

the backlight unit has a light guide plate, a light source, and a frame unit,

the light guide plate disposed in the frame unit and has an edge portion,

the frame unit has a wall portion, which is located at an outer side of the edge portion,

one substrate of the pair of substrates has a first side surface,

the wall portion has a second side surface, which is an outside surface of the backlight unit,

a plate-like adhesive member, opposing to the first side surface and the second side surface in continuity, attaches to the first side surface and the second side surface by an adhesive surface, and

the adhesive surface does not protrude into a gap between the first side surface and the second side surface.

5. The liquid crystal display device according to claim 4 ,

wherein the first side surface and the second side surface are arranged in a first direction,

wherein the pair of the substrate has a thickness in the first direction,

wherein the wall portion has a thickness in a second direction which is orthogonal to the first direction, and

wherein the thickness of the wall portion is less than that of the pair of substrates.

6. The liquid crystal display device according to claim 4 ,

wherein the first side surface and the second side surface are arranged in a first direction,

wherein the light guide plate has a thickness in the first direction,

wherein the wall portion has a thickness in a second direction which is orthogonal to the first direction, and

wherein the thickness of the wall portion is less than that of the light guide plate.

7. A liquid crystal display device comprising:

a liquid crystal display panel including a pair of substrates; and

a backlight unit disposed for radiating a light to the liquid crystal display panel;

wherein

the backlight unit has a light guide plate, a light source, and a frame unit,

the light guide plate is housed in the frame unit,

the frame unit has a wall portion, which is located at a periphery of the light guide plate,

one substrate of the pair of substrates has a first side surface,

the wall portion has a second side surface, which is an outside surface of the backlight unit, and

a plate-like adhesive member, opposing to the first side surface and the second side surface in continuity, has an inner surface which attaches to the first side surface and the second side surface, and

the inner surface does not protrude into a gap between the first side surface and the second side surface.

8. The liquid crystal display device according to claim 7 ,

wherein the first side surface and the second side surface are arranged in a first direction,

wherein the pair of the substrate has a thickness in the first direction,

wherein the wall portion has a thickness in a second direction which is orthogonal to the first direction, and

wherein the thickness of the wall portion is less than that of the pair of substrates.

9. The liquid crystal display device according to claim 7 ,

wherein the first side surface and the second side surface are arranged in a first direction,

wherein the light guide plate has a thickness in the first direction,

wherein the wall portion has a thickness in a second direction which is orthogonal to the first direction, and

wherein the thickness of the wall portion is less than that of the light guide plate.
