Abstract

A controller for a harvester. The controller is configured to receive crop flow information representative of how crop is flowing through the harvester and generate display information for providing a visual display to an operator of the harvester. The visual display includes an animation of crop flowing through the harvester. The controller is further configured to set one or more properties of the animation of the crop flowing through the harvester based on the received crop flow information.

Claims (32)

1. A controller for a harvester, the controller comprising:

a processor and associated memory, the memory storing a computer program in machine-readable form that, when executed by the processor, configures the controller to:

receive crop flow information providing an indication of how crop is flowing through the harvester;

generate display information for providing a visual display associated with the crop flow information, the visual display including a visual representation of crop flow through the harvester at various locations along a crop flow path defined between a first location within the harvester and a second location within the harvester; and

adjust one or more display properties of the visual display based on the received crop flow information to provide an animated view of the crop flow between the first and second locations within the harvester.

2. The controller of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to adjust the one or more display properties based on the received crop flow information such that the animated view of the crop flow provides a visual indication of an amount of crop flowing between the first and second locations within the harvester.

3. The controller of claim 2 , wherein the controller is configured to adjust the one or more display properties by adjusting a position or relative height of a line within the visual display that represents the amount of crop flowing between the first and second locations within the harvester.

4. The controller of claim 3 , wherein the amount of crop flowing at the various locations along the crop flow path is represented by the position or relative height of the line at various different points along a length of the line.

5. The controller of claim 1 , wherein the first location is defined at an upstream position associated with one of a pan or sieve of the harvester and the second location is defined at a downstream position associated with the one of the pan or the sieve of the harvester.

6. The controller of claim 1 , wherein the first location is defined at an upstream position on or within a threshing cylinder of the harvester and the second location is defined at a downstream position on or within the threshing cylinder of the harvester.

7. The controller of claim 1 , wherein the first location is defined at a position of a threshing cylinder of the harvester and the second location is defined at a position of one of a pan or a sieve of the harvester.

8. The controller of claim 1 , wherein the animated view provides a continuous visual representation of the crop flow between the first and second locations within the harvester.

9. The controller of claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to automatically control an operation of at least one electronically controllable component of the harvester to adjust the crop flow through the harvester between the first and second locations based on an input received from an operator of the harvester.

10. A controller for a harvester, the controller comprising:

a processor and associated memory, the memory storing a computer program in machine-readable form that, when executed by the processor, configures the controller to:

receive crop flow information providing an indication of how crop is flowing through the harvester;

receive operating information associated with an operating state of one or more internal components of the harvester;

generate display information for providing a visual display associated with the operation of the harvester, the visual display including both a visual representation of crop flow through the harvester and a visual representation of at least one of the one or more internal components or the operating state associated with the one or more internal components; and

adjust one or more display properties of the visual display based on the received crop flow information to provide a continuous animated view of the crop flow through at least a portion of the harvester, the at least a portion of the harvester being associated with a crop flow path defined relative to the one or more internal components between a first location within the harvester and a second location within the harvester.

11. The controller of claim 10 , wherein the controller is further configured to automatically control an operation of at least one electronically controllable component of the harvester based at least in part on at least one of the received crop flow information or the received operating information.

12. A method for controlling a harvester, the method comprising:

receiving, with a computing device, crop flow information providing an indication of how crop is flowing through the harvester;

generating, with the computing device, display information for providing a visual display associated with the crop flow information, the visual display including a visual representation of crop flow through the harvester at various locations along a crop flow path defined between a first location within the harvester and a second location within the harvester; and

adjusting, with the computing device, one or more display properties of the visual display based on the received crop flow information to provide an animated view of the crop flow between the first and second locations within the harvester.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein adjusting the one or more display properties of the visual display comprises adjusting the one or more display properties of the visual display based on the received crop flow information such that the animated view of the crop flow provides a visual indication of an amount of crop flowing between the first and second locations within the harvester.

14. The method of claim 13 , wherein adjusting the one or more display properties of the visual display comprises adjusting a position or relative height of a line within the visual display that represents the amount of crop flowing between the first and second locations within the harvester.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the amount of crop flowing at the various locations along the crop flow path is represented by the position or relative height of the line at various different points along a length of the line.

16. The method of claim 12 , wherein the first location is defined at an upstream position associated with one of a pan or sieve of the harvester and the second location is defined at a downstream position associated with the one of the pan or the sieve of the harvester.

17. The method of claim 12 , wherein the first location is defined at an upstream position on or within a threshing cylinder of the harvester and the second location is defined at a downstream position on or within the threshing cylinder of the harvester.

18. The method of claim 12 , wherein the first location is defined at a position of a threshing cylinder of the harvester and the second location is defined at a position of one of a pan or a sieve of the harvester.

19. The method of claim 12 , wherein the animated view provides a continuous visual representation of the crop flow between the first and second locations within the harvester.

20. The method of claim 12 , further comprising automatically controlling an operation of at least one electronically controllable component of the harvester to adjust the crop flow through the harvester between the first and second locations based on an input received from an operator of the harvester.
