Abstract

This disclosure provides a federated wide area motion imagery (WAMI) collection service (CS) by: receiving an alert from a WAMI alert-service (A) respectively associated with a WAMI CS regarding any updates to WAMI data served by the WAMI CS at the federated WAMI CS, the WAMI CS providing WAMI collection metadata; issuing a request to the WAMI A associated with the WAMI CS to read information on what is updated; receiving a response from the WAMI A at the federated WAMI CS, the response comprising tree nodes corresponding to WAMI collection metadata that are updated by the WAMI CS; issuing a subsequent request to the WAMI CS from the federated WAMI CS to retrieve the WAMI collection metadata from the WAMI CS corresponding to the collection tree nodes that are updated; receiving a response including the WAMI collection metadata from the WAMI CS; and storing the received WAMI collection metadata in cache of the federated WAMI CS of the system.

Claims (38)

1. A method implemented by a computer system that includes at least one processor configured to execute computer program instructions for providing a federated wide area motion imagery (WAMI) collection service (CS), the method comprising:

receiving, by the at least one processor, an alert from at least one WAMI alert-service (A) respectively associated with at least one WAMI CS regarding any updates to WAMI data served by the at least one WAMI CS at the federated WAMI CS, the at least one WAMI CS providing WAMI collection metadata;

issuing, by the at least one processor, a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) or a Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) request, in response to the alert, from the federated WAMI CS to the at least one WAMI A associated with the respective at least one WAMI CS to read information on what is updated within the at least one WAMI CS;

receiving, by the at least one processor, a response, in response to the HTTP or HTTPS request, from the at least one WAMI A at the federated WAMI CS, the response comprising a list of nodes in a tree corresponding to WAMI collection metadata that are updated by the at least one WAMI collection service;

issuing, by the at least one processor, a subsequent request, in response to the response, to the at least one WAMI CS from the federated WAMI CS to retrieve the WAMI collection metadata from the at least one WAMI CS corresponding to the collection tree nodes that are updated;

receiving, by the at least one processor, in response to the subsequent request, a subsequent response including the WAMI collection metadata from the at least one WAMI CS; and

storing the received WAMI collection metadata in a local cache of the federated WAMI CS of the computer system.

2. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

monitoring, by the at least one processor, a status of the at least one WAMI CS.

3. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

marking, by the at least one processor, a local entry point collection tree as updated; and

recording date and time of update.

4. The method according to claim 1 , wherein each of the at least one WAMI CS is located at a same or different geographic location.

5. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

implementing, by the at least one processor, a first single entry point to at least one WAMI CS to access WAMI collection metadata at the at least one WAMI CS.

6. The method according to claim 5 , further comprising:

implementing, by the at least one processor, a second single entry point to the at least one WAMI CS.

7. The method according to claim 6 , further comprising:

receiving, by the at least one processor, a request for WAMI collection metadata at the at least one WAMI CS from a client computer system via the first entry point, the second entry point, or both the first and second entry points.

8. The method according to claim 6 , wherein the first and second entry points are located at different locations.

9. The method according to claim 6 , further comprising:

implementing, by the at least one processor, a third entry point in communication with the first and second entry points.

10. The method according to claim 9 , further comprising:

receiving, by the at least one processor, a request for WAMI collection metadata from a client computer system via the third entry point to access the WAMI collection metadata at the at least one WAMI CS in communication with the first entry point, the second entry point, or both the first and second entry points.

11. The method according to claim 10 , wherein the first, second, and third entry points are located at different locations.

12. A system for providing a federated wide area motion imagery (WAMI) collection service (CS), the system comprising one or more processors configured to:

receive, by the at least one processor, an alert from at least one WAMI alert-service (A) respectively associated with at least one WAMI CS regarding any updates to WAMI data served by the at least one WAMI CS at the federated WAMI CS, the at least one WAMI CS providing WAMI collection metadata;

issue, by the at least one processor, a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) or a Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) request, in response to the alert, from the federated WAMI CS to the at least one WAMI A associated with the respective at least one WAMI CS to read information on what is updated within the at least one WAMI CS;

receive, by the at least one processor, a response, in response to the HTTP or HTTPS request, from the at least one WAMI A at the federated WAMI CS, the response comprising a list of nodes in a tree corresponding to WAMI collection metadata that are updated by the at least one WAMI collection service;

issue, by the at least one processor, a subsequent request, in response to the response, to the at least one WAMI CS from the federated WAMI CS to retrieve the WAMI collection metadata from the at least one WAMI CS corresponding to the collection tree nodes that are updated;

receive, by the at least one processor, in response to the subsequent request, a subsequent response including the WAMI collection metadata from the at least one WAMI CS; and

store the received WAMI collection metadata in a local cache of the federated WAMI CS of the system.

13. The system according to claim 12 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

monitor, by the at least one processor, a status of the at least one WAMI CS.

14. The system according to claim 12 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

mark, by the at least one processor, a local entry point collection tree as updated; and

record date and time of update.

15. The system according to claim 12 , wherein each of the at least one WAMI CS is located at a same or different geographic location.
