Abstract

A surface cleaning apparatus such as an extractor has a fluid flow path extending from a dirty fluid inlet head to a clean air outlet. The fluid flow path upstream of the separation stage comprises a removable portion.

Claims (34)

1. An upright surface cleaning apparatus comprising:

a) a surface cleaning head comprising a dirty fluid inlet and a liquid separator, the liquid separator comprising a collection container;

b) a cleaning solution delivery system comprising a liquid reservoir and a cleaning solution fluid flow path extending from the liquid reservoir to at least one delivery nozzle;

c) a dirty fluid flow path extending from the dirty fluid inlet to a clean air outlet; and,

d) an upright section moveably mounted to the surface cleaning head, the surface cleaning head including a moveable joint whereby the upright section is moveable between an upright storage position and a reclined surface cleaning position, the upright section comprising an air treatment member that is downstream of the liquid separator,

wherein a portion of the dirty fluid flow path that is in flow communication with the liquid separator comprises a removable portion that has an upstream end that is located in the surface cleaning head and the removable portion comprises the moveable joint.

2. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the removable portion has an absence of a treatment member.

3. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the removable portion comprises a flexible hose.

4. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the removable portion comprises a plurality of individual segments.

5. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 4 , wherein at least one of the segments is rigid.

6. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 4 , wherein one or more of the segments is removable without removing all of the segments concurrently.

7. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the moveable joint comprises a pivot joint.

8. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the dirty fluid inlet comprises a brush chamber and the removable portion extends from the brush chamber to the liquid separator.

9. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the liquid separator is removable as a sealed unit other than a liquid separator fluid inlet and a liquid separator fluid outlet.

10. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 1 wherein the removable portion is removably connectable with a portion of the dirty fluid flow path that is downstream of the dirty fluid inlet.

11. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 1 wherein the removable portion is removable with the collection container from the surface cleaning apparatus while the removable portion is in flow communication with the collection container.

12. An upright surface cleaning apparatus comprising:

a) a surface cleaning head comprising a dirty fluid inlet and a liquid separator, the liquid separator comprising a collection container;

b) a cleaning solution delivery system comprising a liquid reservoir and a cleaning solution fluid flow path extending from the liquid reservoir to at least one delivery nozzle;

c) a dirty fluid flow path extending from the dirty fluid inlet to a clean air outlet; and,

d) an upright section moveably mounted to the surface cleaning head, the surface cleaning head including a moveable joint whereby the upright section is moveable between an upright storage position and a reclined surface cleaning position, the upright section comprising an air treatment member that is downstream of the liquid separator,

wherein a portion of the dirty fluid flow path that is in flow communication with the liquid separator comprises a removable portion that has an upstream end that is located in the surface cleaning head and the removable portion extends through the moveable joint.

13. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 12 wherein the removable portion is not a structural support part of the surface cleaning apparatus.

14. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 12 wherein the removable portion is removable with the collection container from the surface cleaning apparatus while the removable portion is in flow communication with the collection container.

15. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the removable portion has an absence of a treatment member.

16. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the removable portion comprises a flexible hose.

17. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the removable portion comprises a plurality of individual segments.

18. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 17 , wherein at least one of the segments is rigid.

19. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 17 , wherein one or more of the segments is removable without removing all of the segments concurrently.

20. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the moveable joint comprises a pivot joint.

21. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 20 , wherein the removable portion extends through the pivot joint.

22. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the dirty fluid inlet comprises a brush chamber and the removable portion extends from the brush chamber to the liquid separator.

23. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 22 , wherein the liquid separator is removable as a sealed unit other than a liquid separator-fluid inlet and a liquid separator fluid outlet.

24. The upright surface cleaning apparatus of claim 12 wherein the removable portion is removable connectable with a portion of the dirty fluid flow path that is downstream of the dirty fluid inlet.
