Abstract

A lighting device includes a housing, a light emitting device, and an optical array. The housing has a base and the light emitting device is connected to the base for producing a light output. The optical array includes a lens and removably connects to the base. The optical array is repositionable on the base to modify the light output.

Claims (28)

1. An outdoor light fixture comprising:

a housing configured to be mounted in an outdoor location;

a plurality of light emitters connected to the housing for producing a light output; and

an optical array having a body and a plurality of lenses extending from the body, wherein the body is removably connected to the housing, and wherein the optical array produces an asymmetrical light output and is repositionable to modify the asymmetrical light output.

2. The outdoor light fixture of claim 1 , wherein a single lens corresponds to each light emitter.

3. The outdoor light fixture of claim 2 , wherein the optical array can be repositioned without movement of the light emitters.

4. The outdoor light fixture of claim 1 , wherein the optical array can be rotated a predetermined number of degrees, and at least one of the lens portions corresponds to a different respective light emitter after the optical array is rotated.

5. The outdoor light fixture of claim 4 , wherein the optical array is rotatable in a minimum of 90 degree increments.

6. The outdoor light fixture of claim 1 , wherein the lenses are unitarily formed with the optical array.

7. The outdoor light fixture of claim 1 , wherein the optical array includes an orientation marker.

8. The outdoor light fixture of claim 1 , wherein the optical array includes a clearance portion.

9. The outdoor light fixture of claim 1 , wherein the asymmetrical light output includes a rectangular light pattern.

10. An area luminaire comprising:

a housing having a base and a heat fin in thermal communication with the base;

a printed circuit board connected to the base;

a plurality of light emitters connected to the printed circuit board for producing a light output; and

an optical array having a body and a plurality of lenses extending from the body,

wherein the body is removably positioned over the printer circuit board, and wherein the optical array produces an asymmetrical light output and is repositionable to modify the asymmetrical light output.

11. The area luminaire of claim 10 , wherein the body portion and the lenses are unitarily formed.

12. The area luminaire of claim 10 , wherein the lenses are sonically welded to the body portion.

13. The area luminaire of claim 10 , wherein a gasket is connected to the body to form a sealed area.

14. The area luminaire of claim 10 , wherein the lenses are identical.

15. The area luminaire of claim 10 , wherein the optical array can be repositioned without movement of the light emitters.

16. The area luminaire of claim 10 , wherein the optical array includes an indexing post and the printed circuit board includes an indexing hole for receiving the indexing post.

17. The area luminaire of claim 10 , wherein the heat fin is exposed to the environment.

18. The area luminaire of claim 10 , wherein the housing is configured to be mounted to a pole.

19. The area luminaire of claim 10 , wherein the housing is configured to be mounted to a wall.

20. The area luminaire of claim 10 , wherein the optical array is configured to be positioned in a first orientation where the asymmetrical light output is longer in the direction on either side of the housing than the front of the housing and a second orientation where the asymmetrical light output is longer in front of the housing than on either side of the housing.
