Abstract

Lighting systems and methods implementing toggle control are provided. In one example implementation, a lighting system includes a first LED array having one or more LED devices and a second LED array having one or more LED devices. The system further includes a single throw circuit interrupter configured to receive power from a power source. The system further includes a power conversion circuit configured to convert an input power received via the toggle switch to a power output for the first LED array and the second LED array. The power conversion circuit is configured to control a power distribution ratio between the first LED array and the second LED array based at least in part on a detected toggle input (e.g., a toggle pattern) implemented using the single throw circuit interrupter.

Claims (27)

1. A light emitting diode (LED) lighting system comprising:

a first LED array having one or more LED devices;

a second LED array having one or more LED devices; and

a power conversion circuit configured to convert an input power to an output power for the first LED array and the second LED array;

wherein the power conversion circuit is configured to control a power distribution ratio between the first LED array and the second LED array based at least in part on a detected toggle input.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the power conversion circuit is configured to further implement a power distribution sweep based at least in part on the detected toggle input.

3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the power distribution sweep increases an output power provided to the first LED array over time while decreasing an output power provided to the second LED array.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein power conversion circuit comprises a toggle control circuit configured to detect the toggle input and to provide one or more control signals to a distribution circuit based at least in part on the toggle input.

5. The system of claim 4 , wherein the distribution circuit comprises a dim-to-warm circuit.

6. The system of claim 4 , wherein the distribution circuit comprises a current splitter circuit.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the power conversion circuit is configured to further implement a power distribution sweep in response to a first toggle input, hold a power distribution in response to a second toggle input, and change direction of a power distribution sweep in response to a third toggle input.

8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the first toggle input comprises a plurality of successive toggles within a time period.

9. The system of claim 7 , wherein the power conversion circuit is configured to enter a control mode in response to the first toggle input.

10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the second toggle input comprises one or more toggles that occur when the power conversion circuit is operating in the control mode.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the third toggle input comprises a plurality of successive toggles that occur when the power conversion circuit is operating in the control mode.

12. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first LED array is associated with a different color temperature than the second LED array.

13. The system of claim 1 , wherein the toggle input is implemented using a single throw circuit interrupter.

14. The system of claim 13 , wherein the single throw circuit interrupter comprises a toggle switch.

15. A method for controlling a lighting system, comprising:

detecting a first toggle input;

entering a control mode in response to the first toggle input;

implementing a power distribution sweep among a first light source and a second light source during the control mode;

wherein during the power distribution sweep, the method comprises increasing an output power provided to the first light source over time while decreasing an output power provided to the second light source.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the method further comprises detecting a second toggle input during the control mode.

17. The method of claim 16 , wherein the method further comprises holding a power distribution among the first light source and the second light source in response to the second toggle input.

18. The method of claim 16 , wherein the method further comprises exiting the control mode after a time period has elapsed following the second toggle input.

19. The method of claim 16 , wherein the method further comprises detecting a third toggle input during the control mode and in response to detecting the third toggle input, changing a direction of the power distribution sweep such that the method comprises decreasing an output power provided to the first light source and increasing an output power provided to the second light source.
