Abstract

Medical devices and delivery systems for delivering medical devices to a target location within a subject. In some embodiments the medical devices can be locked in a fully deployed and locked configuration. In some embodiments the delivery systems are configured with a single actuator to control the movement of multiple components of the delivery system. In some embodiments the actuator controls the independent and dependent movement of multiple components of the delivery system.

Claims (18)

1. A medical delivery system, comprising:

an outer sheath having a lumen extending therethrough;

a delivery catheter having a proximal end and a distal end, the delivery catheter disposed within the outer sheath lumen;

a sheathing assist element having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the proximal end of the sheathing assist element is coupled to the distal end of the delivery catheter;

wherein the sheathing assist element is positionable within the outer sheath;

wherein the sheathing assist element has a first configuration and a second configuration; and

wherein the sheathing assist element is tapered from the distal end of the sheathing assist element to the proximal end of the sheathing assist element when in the second configuration, the sheathing assist element at its distal end having a transverse extent greater than that of the outer sheath;

wherein the sheathing assist element includes a plurality of arms each forming a looped structure,

wherein the plurality of arms includes a first set of arms and a second set of arms different from the first set of arms.

2. The medical delivery system of claim 1 , wherein the first set of arms is longer than the second set of arms.

3. The medical delivery system of claim 1 , wherein two arms from the second set of arms are attached together at an attachment point disposed along their length between a proximal end and a distal end of an arm of a replacement heart valve.

4. The medical delivery system of claim 3 , wherein at least some of the plurality of arms are weaved into an anchor member of the replacement heart valve.

5. The medical delivery system of claim 4 , wherein distal ends of the first set of arms are disposed radially within the anchor member of the replacement heart valve.

6. The medical delivery system of claim 4 , wherein distal ends of the second set of arms are disposed outside of the anchor member of the replacement heart valve.

7. The medical delivery system of claim 1 , wherein both ends of a wire loop structure of each of the plurality of arms are coupled together at the proximal end of the sheathing assist element.

8. The medical delivery system of claim 1 , wherein the sheathing assist element further comprises a plurality of stiffening elements.

9. The medical delivery system of claim 8 , wherein the plurality of stiffening elements is shorter than the plurality of arms.

10. The medical delivery system of claim 8 , wherein the plurality of stiffening elements each forms a looped structure.
