Skill-based bonusing interleaved wagering system

1. An electronic gaming machine, comprising:

a display output device;

a bill validator/ticket scanner for scanning indicia of credit;

a ticket printer for printing indicia of credit on a ticket;

a random number generator;

an interactive controller operatively connected to the display output device and an application controller, wherein the interactive controller is configured to:

provide an interactive application;

generate a graphical display including the interactive application using the display output device;

distribute, to the application controller, application telemetry associated with the interactive application provided;

receive, from the application controller, wager outcome data;

scan the wager outcome data to determine a wager outcome;

update the graphical display to display the wager outcome;

receive, from the application controller, application resource instructions;

receive, from the application controller, a bonus goal offer instruction;

initiate a portion of the interactive controller that provides a bonus goal based on the bonus goal offer instruction;

distribute, to the application controller, additional application telemetry comprising information on the progress of achieving a bonus goal;

receive, from the application controller, a bonus wager outcome instruction; and

update the graphical display to display a bonus wager outcome;

the application controller operatively connected to the interactive controller and a wager controller, wherein the application controller is configured to:

receive, from the interactive controller, the credit input;

receive, from the interactive controller, the application telemetry;

scan the application telemetry to determine whether to trigger a wager;

when a wager is triggered, generate the wager request instructions;

distribute the wager request instructions to the wager controller;

receive, from the wager controller, the wager outcome data;

distribute, to the interactive controller, the wager outcome data;

determine an application resource based on the wager outcome;

generate application resource instructions based on the application resource;

instruct the interactive controller by distributing, to the interactive controller, the application resource instructions;

determine whether the bonus goal should be provided;

when the bonus goal should be provided, generate bonus goal offer instructions;

instruct the interactive controller, by distributing the bonus goal offer instructions to the interactive controller;

receive, from the interactive controller, the additional application telemetry;

scan the additional application telemetry to determine whether the bonus goal is achieved;

when it is determined that the bonus goal is achieved, generate bonus wager request instructions;

distribute the bonus wager request instructions to the wager controller;

receive, from the wager controller, the bonus wager outcome data;

generate bonus wager outcome instructions using the bonus wager outcome data; and

instruct the interactive controller, by distributing the bonus wager outcome instructions to the interactive controller; and

the wager controller operatively connected to the application controller, wherein the wager controller is configured to:

receive, using the bill validator/ticket scanner, a credit input;

credit a credit meter with credits based on the credit input;

receive, from the application controller, a wager request instruction;

determine a wager outcome based on the wager request instruction using the random number generator;

update the credit meter based on the wager outcome;

distribute, to the application controller, wager outcome data comprising the wager outcome;

receive, from the application controller, bonus wager request instructions;

determine a bonus wager outcome based on the bonus wager request instructions;

update the credit meter based on the bonus wager outcome;

distribute, to the application controller, bonus wager outcome data comprising the bonus wager outcome; and

output, using the ticket printer, a credit output of credit on the credit meter.

2. The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 ,

wherein the interactive controller, the application controller, and the wager controller are constructed from the same device.

3. The gaming electronic gaming machine of claim 1 ,

wherein the wager controller and the application controller are constructed from the same device, and

wherein the application controller is operatively connected to the interactive controller using a communication link.

4. The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the application resource is an autonomous agent that assists the user in interacting with the interactive application.

5. The electronic gaming machine claim 1 , wherein the wager outcome and the bonus wager outcome are both determined based on a common wagering mechanic.

6. The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the wager outcome and the bonus wager outcome are determined based on different wagering mechanics.

7. The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the application resource is determined based on a different random outcome.

8. The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the determination of whether to provide the bonus goal is based on wagering mechanic information stored by at least one of the application controller or the wager controller.
