The present invention relates generally to the co-administration of an opioid agonist compound and an analgesic compound. In addition, the invention relates to, among other things, dosage forms for co-administration of an opioid agonist compound and an analgesic compound, methods for administering an opioid agonist compound and an analgesic compound, compositions comprising an opioid agonist compound and an analgesic compound, dosage forms comprising an opioid agonist compound and an analgesic compound, and so on.
1. A method of treating pain in a patient, comprising:
co-administering to a patient in need thereof:
(i) an opioid agonist compound having the formula:
or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein:
R 1 is hydrogen or methyl;

R 3 is hydrogen, methyl, or cyclobutylmethyl;
R 4 is hydrogen;
“---” represents an optional double bond;
Y 1 is O;
X is a physiologically stable linker;
n is an integer from 1 to 10; and
Y is lower alkyl; and
(ii) a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the opioid agonist compound is selected from the formulae:
wherein n is an integer selected from 1 to 10; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the opioid agonist compound has the formula:
wherein n is an integer selected from 2 to 10; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
