Abstract

Techniques for configuring and operating a fantasy sports interleaver service are described herein. In some examples, a custom content feed can be generated for a user based on one or more topics of interest to the user. The one or more topics of interest to the user may include athletes on a roster of a fantasy team associated with a fantasy sports account of the user. Content segments may be identified that are relevant to the one or more topics of interest to the user and a custom content feed may be generated for the user that includes the content segments. The custom content feed may also include content from a social networking account of the user. The custom content feed may be served to a client device of the user and/or shared with one or more contacts of the social networking account of the user.

Claims (40)

1. A method comprising:

under control of one or more processors configured with executable instructions stored in memory:

determining, by operation of the one or more processors, one or more topics of interest to a user, the one or more topics of interest to the user comprising athletes on a roster of a fantasy team associated with a fantasy sports account of the user;

identifying, by operation of the one or more processors, multiple content segments that are relevant to the one or more topics of interest to the user, wherein the identifying comprises identifying tagged content segments associated with the roster of the fantasy team of the fantasy sports account of the user;

generating a custom content feed for the user, by operation of the one or more processors, wherein the generating comprises using the identified tagged content segments, and wherein the custom content feed comprises the identified tagged content segments and content from a social networking account of the user; and

causing, by operation of the one or more processors, the custom content feed including the multiple content segments and the content from the social networking account of the user to be served by one or more network connections to a client device of the user.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining the one or more topics of interest to the user is based at least in part on the social networking account of the user.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the content from the social networking account of the user comprises a posting from a contact of the user that participates in a fantasy sports league with the user.

4. The method of claim 3 , further comprising obtaining at least one of the multiple content segments from the social networking account of the user.

5. The method of claim 3 , wherein the custom content feed and the content from the social networking account are interleaved to generate the custom content feed served to the client device of the user.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising, prior to causing the multiple content segments to be served, adding the multiple content segments to a segment buffer of content segments to be served to the client device.

7. The method of claim 6 , further comprising:

receiving a request to reorder the content segments in the segment buffer; and

reordering the content segments in the segment buffer responsive to receiving the request to reorder the content segments.

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising interleaving one or more ads between the multiple content segments.

9. A method comprising:

under control of one or more processors configured with executable instructions stored in memory:

determining, by operation of the one or more processors, one or more topics of interest to a user based at least in part on a fantasy sports account of the user;

identifying, by operation of the one or more processors, multiple content segments that are relevant to the one or more topics of interest to the user, wherein the identifying comprises identifying tagged content segments associated with the fantasy sports account of the user;

generating a custom content feed for the user, by operation of the one or more processors, wherein the generating comprises using the identified tagged content segments, and wherein the custom content feed comprises the identified tagged content segments; and

causing, by operation of the one or more processors, at least a portion of the custom content feed including the multiple content segments to be shared with one or more contacts of a social networking account of the user.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the determining the one or more topics of interest to the user is further based at least in part on the social networking account of the user.

11. The method of claim 9 , wherein the topics of interest to the user comprise athletes on a roster of a fantasy team associated with the fantasy sports account of the user.

12. The method of claim 9 , further comprising obtaining at least one of the multiple content segments from the social networking account of the user.

13. The method of claim 9 , wherein the portion of the custom content feed shared with one or more contacts of the social networking account of the user includes the multiple content segments and content from the social networking account of the user.

14. The method of claim 9 , further comprising, prior to causing the multiple content segments to be shared, adding the multiple content segments to a segment buffer of content segments to be shared.

15. The method of claim 14 , further comprising:

receiving a request to reorder the content segments in the segment buffer; and

reordering the content segments in the segment buffer responsive to receiving the request to reorder the content segments.

16. The method of claim 9 , further comprising interleaving one or more ads between the multiple content segments.

17. A system comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory communicatively coupled to the one or more processors, the memory storing instructions that when executed by the one or more processors configure the system to perform operations comprising:

determining, by operation of the one or more processors, one or more topics of interest to a user, the one or more topics of interest to the user comprising athletes on a roster of a fantasy team associated with a fantasy sports account of the user;

identifying, by operation of the one or more processors, multiple content segments that are relevant to the one or more topics of interest to the user, wherein the identifying comprises identifying tagged content segments associated with the roster of the fantasy team of the fantasy sports account of the user;

generating a custom content feed for the user, by operation of the one or more processors, wherein the generating comprises using the identified tagged content segments, and wherein the custom content feed comprises the identified tagged content segments and content from a social networking account of the user; and

causing, by operation of the one or more processors, the custom content feed including the multiple content segments and the content from the social networking account of the user to be served by one or more network connections to a client device of the user.

18. The system of claim 17 , the operations further comprising causing, by operation of the one or more processors, at least a portion of the custom content feed including the multiple content segments to be shared to one or more contacts of the social networking account of the user.

19. The system of claim 17 , wherein the determining the one or more topics of interest to the user is further based at least in part on the social networking account of the user.

20. The system of claim 17 , the operations further comprising obtaining at least one of the multiple content segments from the social networking account of the user.
