Abstract

An apparatus in one embodiment comprises at least one processing platform including a plurality of processing devices. The processing platform is configured to receive a request to deploy one or more applications of a plurality of selected applications, wherein the plurality of selected applications are selected based on a determined role of an individual within an enterprise, and to deploy the one or more applications for at least one user device responsive to the request. The processing platform is further configured to monitor execution of the one or more applications in connection with the at least one user device, to receive and analyze data corresponding to the execution of the one or more applications, and to automatically generate one or more recommendations in connection with the deployment of the one or more applications for the at least one user device based on the received and analyzed data.

Claims (83)

1. An apparatus comprising:

at least one processing platform comprising a plurality of processing devices;

said at least one processing platform being configured:

to receive a request to deploy one or more applications of a plurality of selected applications, wherein the plurality of selected applications are selected based on a determined role of an individual within an enterprise;

to deploy the one or more applications for at least one user device responsive to the request, wherein deploying the one or more applications comprises automatically configuring the one or more applications on the at least one user device in accordance with one or more mobile device management policies selected based at least in part on an operating system of the at least one user device and an ownership type of the at least one user device, wherein automatically configuring the one or more applications comprises enabling self-activation of the at least one user device to connect the one or more applications to one or more backend resources of the enterprise;

to monitor execution of the one or more applications on the at least one user device;

to receive and analyze data corresponding to the execution of the one or more applications on the at least one user device, wherein the received and analyzed data comprises automated usage data for each of the one or more applications of the plurality of selected applications on the at least one user device;

wherein in analyzing the automated usage data, said at least one processing platform is configured to identify whether a time of use of any of the one or more applications of the plurality of selected applications is below a threshold;

to modify the plurality of selected applications based on the determined role of the individual within the enterprise to at least one of remove and replace a given one of the plurality of selected applications having a time of use below the threshold; and

to automatically generate one or more recommendations in connection with the deployment of the one or more applications for the at least one user device based on the received and analyzed data, and based on the modified plurality of selected applications available for the determined role of the individual within the enterprise;

wherein the one or more recommendations comprise an identification of relative levels of usage for each of the plurality of selected applications on the at least one user device, and a recommendation to at least one of modify, replace and remove the one or more applications;

wherein the one or more recommendations are at least in part generated by application of one or more machine learning algorithms:

wherein, in connection with generating the one or more recommendations, the one or more machine learning algorithms analyze: (i) the automated usage data for each of the one or more applications of the plurality of selected applications; and (ii) feedback from a user of the at least one user device, the feedback comprising data regarding whether the one or more applications of the plurality of selected applications are being used, are deemed useful by the user and are deemed difficult to use by the user;

wherein deploying the one or more applications for the at least one user device comprises presenting, via a graphical user interface of the at least one user device, technology bundle information comprising:

graphical indicators showing the relative levels of usage of each of the plurality of selected applications on the at least one user device; and

one or more clickable icons which, when activated, initiate one or more actions for replacing at least a given one of the plurality of selected applications with one or more alternative applications; and

wherein at least a given one of the one or more clickable icons, when activated, generates a notification (i) indicating at least one of an end-of-life of the given one of the plurality of selected applications and a date at which the given one of the plurality of selected applications is planned to go out of service and (ii) provides instructions for replacing the given one of the plurality of selected applications with a given one of the one or more alternative applications.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said at least one processing platform is further configured:

to receive the determined role of the individual within the enterprise as an input; and

to match the plurality of selected applications with the received input.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the selection of the plurality of selected applications is further based on at least one of dynamic and real-time data.

4. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the selection of the plurality of selected applications is further based on at least one of a change in application offerings of the enterprise, a change to one or more defined roles in the enterprise and a change to the determined role of the individual within the enterprise.

5. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said at least one processing platform is further configured to automatically perform license harvesting based on the automated usage data.

6. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the one or more applications provide one or more virtualization services.

7. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the one or more applications provide one or more conferencing services.

8. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the one or more applications provide one or more workspace collaboration services.

9. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein:

the selection of the plurality of selected applications is further based on a change to one or more defined roles in the enterprise, a change to the determined role of the individual within the enterprise and a change in options for the enterprise to choose from for the plurality of selected applications; and

said at least one processing platform is further configured:

to mine data of the enterprise for an indication of the change to one or more of the defined roles in the enterprise, the change to the determined role of the individual within the enterprise and the change in the options for the enterprise to choose from for the plurality of selected applications; and

to update the selection of the plurality of selected applications based on the indications.

10. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the given clickable icon, when activated, generates the notification indicating the end-of-life of the given one of the plurality of selected applications.

11. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the given clickable icon, when activated, generates the notification indicating the date at which the given one of the plurality of selected applications is planned to go out of service for the enterprise.

12. A method comprising:

receiving a request to deploy one or more applications of a plurality of selected applications, wherein the plurality of selected applications are selected based on a determined role of an individual within an enterprise;

deploying the one or more applications for at least one user device responsive to the request, wherein deploying the one or more applications comprises automatically configuring the one or more applications on the at least one user device in accordance with one or more mobile device management policies selected based at least in part on an operating system of the at least one user device and an ownership type of the at least one user device, wherein automatically configuring the one or more applications comprises enabling self-activation of the at least one user device to connect the one or more applications to one or more backend resources of the enterprise;

monitoring execution of the one or more applications on the at least one user device;

receiving and analyzing data corresponding to the execution of the one or more applications on the at least one user device, wherein the received and analyzed data comprises automated usage data for each of the one or more applications of the plurality of selected applications on the at least one user device;

wherein analyzing the automated usage data comprises identifying whether a time of use of any of the one or more applications of the plurality of selected applications is below a threshold;

modifying the plurality of selected applications based on the determined role of the individual within the enterprise to at least one of remove and replace a given one of the plurality of selected applications having a time of use below the threshold; and

automatically generating one or more recommendations in connection with the deployment of the one or more applications for the at least one user device based on the received and analyzed data, and based on the modified plurality of selected applications available for the determined role of the individual within the enterprise;

wherein the one or more recommendations comprise an identification of relative levels of usage for each of the plurality of selected applications on the at least one user device, and a recommendation to at least one of modify, replace and remove the one or more applications;

wherein the one or more recommendations are at least in part generated by application of one or more machine learning algorithms:

wherein, in connection with generating the one or more recommendations, the one or more machine learning algorithms analyze: (i) the automated usage data for each of the one or more applications of the plurality of selected applications; and (ii) feedback from a user of the at least one user device, the feedback comprising data regarding whether the one or more applications of the plurality of selected applications are being used, are deemed useful by the user and are deemed difficult to use by the user;

wherein deploying the one or more applications for the at least one user device comprises presenting, via a graphical user interface of the at least one user device, technology bundle information comprising:

graphical indicators showing the relative levels of usage of each of the plurality of selected applications on the at least one user device; and

one or more clickable icons which, when activated, initiate one or more actions for replacing at least a given one of the plurality of selected applications with one or more alternative applications;

wherein at least a given one of the one or more clickable icons, when activated, generates a notification (i) indicating at least one of an end-of-life of the given one of the plurality of selected applications and a date at which the given one of the plurality of selected applications is planned to go out of service and (ii) provides instructions for replacing the given one of the plurality of selected applications with a given one of the one or more alternative applications; and

wherein the method is performed by at one processing platform comprising at least one processing device comprising a processor coupled to a memory.

13. The method of claim 12 further comprising:

receiving the determined role of the individual within the enterprise as an input; and

matching the plurality of selected applications with the received input.

14. The method of claim 12 wherein the selection of the plurality of selected applications is further based on at least one of dynamic and real-time data.

15. The method of claim 12 further comprising automatically performing license harvesting based on the automated usage data.

16. The method of claim 12 wherein:

the selection of the plurality of selected applications is further based on a change to one or more defined roles in the enterprise, a change to the determined role of the individual within the enterprise and a change in options for the enterprise to choose from for the plurality of selected applications; and

the method further comprises:

mining data of the enterprise for an indication of the change to one or more of the defined roles in the enterprise, the change to the determined role of the individual within the enterprise and the change in the options for the enterprise to choose from for the plurality of selected applications; and

updating the selection of the plurality of selected applications based on the indications.

17. A computer program product comprising a non-transitory processor-readable storage medium having stored therein program code of one or more software programs, wherein the program code when executed by at least one processing platform causes said at least one processing platform:

to receive a request to deploy one or more applications of a plurality of selected applications, wherein the plurality of selected applications are selected based on a determined role of an individual within an enterprise;

to deploy the one or more applications for at least one user device responsive to the request, wherein deploying the one or more applications comprises automatically configuring the one or more applications on the at least one user device in accordance with one or more mobile device management policies selected based at least in part on an operating system of the at least one user device and an ownership type of the at least one user device, wherein automatically configuring the one or more applications comprises enabling self-activation of the at least one user device to connect the one or more applications to one or more backend resources of the enterprise;

to monitor execution of the one or more applications on the at least one user device;

to receive and analyze data corresponding to the execution of the one or more applications on the at least one user device, wherein the received and analyzed data comprises automated usage data for each of the one or more applications of the plurality of selected applications on the at least one user device;

wherein in analyzing the automated usage data, the program code further causes said at least one processing platform to identify whether a time of use of any of the one or more applications of the plurality of selected applications is below a threshold;

to modify the plurality of selected applications based on the determined role of the individual within the enterprise to at least one of remove and replace a given one of the plurality of selected applications having a time of use below the threshold; and

to automatically generate one or more recommendations in connection with the deployment of the one or more applications for the at least one user device based on the received and analyzed data, and based on the modified plurality of selected applications available for the determined role of the individual within the enterprise;

wherein the one or more recommendations comprise an identification of relative levels of usage for each of the plurality of selected applications on the at least one user device, and a recommendation to at least one of modify, replace and remove the one or more applications;

wherein the one or more recommendations are at least in part generated by application of one or more machine learning algorithms:

wherein, in connection with generating the one or more recommendations, the one or more machine learning algorithms analyze: (i) the automated usage data for each of the one or more applications of the plurality of selected applications; and (ii) feedback from a user of the at least one user device, the feedback comprising data regarding whether the one or more applications of the plurality of selected applications are being used, are deemed useful by the user and are deemed difficult to use by the user;

wherein deploying the one or more applications for the at least one user device comprises presenting, via a graphical user interface of the at least one user device, technology bundle information comprising:

graphical indicators showing the relative levels of usage of each of the plurality of selected applications on the at least one user device; and

one or more clickable icons which, when activated, initiate one or more actions for replacing at least a given one of the plurality of selected applications with one or more alternative applications; and

wherein at least a given one of the one or more clickable icons, when activated, generates a notification (i) indicating at least one of an end-of-life of the given one of the plurality of selected applications and a date at which the given one of the plurality of selected applications is planned to go out of service and (ii) provides instructions for replacing the given one of the plurality of selected applications with a given one of the one or more alternative applications.

18. The computer program product of claim 17 wherein the program code when executed by said at least one processing platform further causes said at least one processing platform:

to receive the determined role of the individual within the enterprise as an input; and

to match the plurality of selected applications with the received input.

19. The computer program product of claim 17 wherein the selection of the plurality of selected applications is further based on at least one of dynamic and real-time data.

20. The computer program product of claim 17 wherein:

the selection of the plurality of selected applications is further based on a change to one or more defined roles in the enterprise, a change to the determined role of the individual within the enterprise and a change in options for the enterprise to choose from for the plurality of selected applications; and

the program code when executed by said at least one processing platform further causes said at least one processing platform:

to mine data of the enterprise for an indication of the change to one or more of the defined roles in the enterprise, the change to the determined role of the individual within the enterprise and the change in the options for the enterprise to choose from for the plurality of selected applications; and

to update the selection of the plurality of selected applications based on the indications.
