Abstract

Compositions of the invention for regenerating defective or absent myocardium comprise an emulsified or injectable extracellular matrix composition. The composition may also include an extracellular matrix scaffold component of any formulation, and further include added cells, proteins, or other components to optimize the regenerative process and restore cardiac function.

Claims (12)

1 . A composition for myocardial tissue regeneration, comprising:

a collagenous composition comprising isolated, non-crosslinked, decellularized collagen from a mammalian tissue source, said collagenous composition further comprising a supplemental bioactive component comprising a cytokine, said cytokine comprising at least 0.1% by weight of said collagenous composition,

said collagenous composition being adapted to induce angiogenesis of defective myocardial tissue and, thereby, regeneration of said defective myocardial tissue and restoration of cardiac function, when said collagenous composition is delivered to said defective myocardial tissue.

2 . A composition for myocardial tissue regeneration, comprising:

a collagenous composition comprising isolated, non-crosslinked, decellularized collagen from a mammalian tissue source, said collagenous composition further comprising a supplemental bioactive component comprising a glycoprotein, said glycoprotein comprising at least 0.1% by weight of said collagenous composition,

said collagenous composition being adapted to induce angiogenesis of defective myocardial tissue and, thereby, regeneration of said defective myocardial tissue and restoration of cardiac function, when said collagenous composition is delivered to said defective myocardial tissue.

3 . A composition for myocardial tissue regeneration, comprising:

a collagenous composition comprising synthetic collagen, said collagenous composition further comprising a supplemental bioactive component comprising a cytokine, said cytokine comprising at least 0.1% by weight of said collagenous composition,

said collagenous composition being adapted to induce angiogenesis of defective myocardial tissue and, thereby, regeneration of said defective myocardial tissue and restoration of cardiac function, when said collagenous composition is delivered to said defective myocardial tissue.

4 . A composition for myocardial tissue regeneration, comprising:

a collagenous composition comprising synthetic collagen, said collagenous composition further comprising a supplemental bioactive component comprising a glycoprotein, said glycoprotein comprising at least 0.1% by weight of said collagenous composition,

said collagenous composition being adapted to induce angiogenesis of defective myocardial tissue and, thereby, regeneration of said defective myocardial tissue and restoration of cardiac function, when said collagenous composition is delivered to said defective myocardial tissue.
