Abstract

Disclosed are systems and methods for location tracking. In one embodiment, an apparatus receives a message sent to a user of a mobile device in a wireless network, and a processor determines at least one location parameter. Data is extracted from the message, and initiation of a computing function (e.g., transmission of a communication to the mobile device) is triggered by a match between the location and the data from the message.

Claims (36)

1. A system comprising:

a data repository to store electronic communications sent to a user of a user device, each communication associated with a respective location;

at least one processor; and

a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium for tangibly storing thereon program logic for execution by the processor, the program logic comprising:

communication logic executed by the processor for receiving, over a network, the electronic communications, and for transmitting, over the network, a new communication to the user device;

extraction logic executed by the processor for extracting data from each of the received communications, including a first communication of the received communications, wherein the first communication comprises metadata, the metadata to facilitate extracting the data by identifying at least one first portion of the first communication to be extracted, and wherein the data is extracted from the first communication using the metadata;

location logic executed by the processor for determining a location of the user device;

identification logic executed by the processor for identifying the first communication, the identifying based on matching the location of the user device to the respective location of the first communication, and the identifying comprising accessing the data repository; and

generation logic executed by the processor for, in response to identifying the first communication, generating the new communication, wherein the new communication includes data extracted from the identified at least one first portion of the first communication, and wherein transmitting the new communication causes a display in a user interface of the user device, the display including an inquiry regarding whether to display data associated with the location of the user device.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the matching is based on determining that the location of the user device is within a geofence associated with the respective location of the first communication.

3. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium tangibly encoded with computer-executable instructions, that when executed by at least one processor associated with a computing system, performs a method comprising:

receiving, over a network, electronic communications sent to a user of a user device, each communication associated with a respective location;

extracting data from a first communication of the received communications, the first communication associated with a first location, wherein the first communication comprises metadata, the metadata to facilitate extracting the data by identifying at least one first portion of the first communication to be extracted, and wherein extracting the data from the first communication is performed using the metadata;

storing the extracted data from the first communication in a data repository;

after storing the extracted data, determining a location of the user device;

determining that the location of the user device is within a geofence associated with the first location;

in response to determining that the location of the user device is within the geofence, generating a new communication, wherein the new communication includes data extracted from the identified at least one first portion of the first communication; and

transmitting, over a network, the new communication to the user device to cause an event on the user device.

4. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 3 , wherein determining that the location of the user device is within the geofence comprises accessing the data repository to obtain location data.

5. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 3 , wherein the method further comprises generating a profile for the user device, the profile comprising data collected from at least one prior communication to the user device.

6. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 5 , wherein the event comprises display of data selected at least based on the profile.

7. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 3 , wherein extracting the data from the first communication comprises extracting the data based on prior activity of the user device.

8. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 3 , wherein the method further comprises generating a profile for the user device, the profile comprising data collected from prior network interactions with the user device.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 3 , wherein the method further comprises automatically identifying computing devices of senders that meet relevancy criteria, and wherein transmitting the new communication is subject to a computing device of a sender of the first communication conforming to the relevancy criteria.

10. A method comprising:

receiving communications sent for a user device, each communication associated with a respective location;

extracting data from a first communication of the received communications, the first communication associated with a first location, wherein the first communication includes metadata, the metadata to facilitate extracting the data by identifying at least one first portion of the first communication to be extracted;

determining a location of the user device;

determining that the location of the user device is within a geofence associated with the first location;

in response to determining that the location of the user device is within the geofence, generating a new communication; and

transmitting, over a network, the new communication to the user device, wherein the new communication includes data extracted from the identified at least one first a portion of the first communication, the transmitting the new communication causing a display in a user interface of the user device, the display including an inquiry regarding whether to display data associated with the location of the user device.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein transmitting the new communication causes an event to occur on the user device.

12. The method of claim 10 , wherein transmitting the new communication causes a notification display on the user device.

13. The method of claim 10 , wherein transmitting the new communication causes the user device to, in response to a user logging into a communication account associated with the first communication, present the extracted data to the user on a display of the user device.

14. The method of claim 10 , further comprising storing the extracted data in a data repository.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein storing the extracted data is performed prior to determining the location of the user device.
