NASAL DELIVERY
A nasal delivery device for and method of delivering a substance, preferably comprising oxytocin, non-peptide agonists thereof and antagonists thereof, preferably as one of a liquid, as a suspension or solution, or a powder, to the nasal airway of a subject, preferably the posterior region of the nasal airway, and preferably the upper posterior region of the nasal airway which includes the olfactory bulb and the trigeminal nerve, and preferably in the treatment of neurological conditions and disorders.

64 . A delivery device for delivering from about 1 IU to about 100 IU of a substance selected from the group consisting of oxytocin, carbetocin, and demoxytocin to an upper posterior, olfactory region of a nasal airway of a subject for treatment of 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, the delivery device comprising:
a nosepiece configured to fit in a nostril of the subject;
a medicament supply unit for supplying a gas flow that entrains the substance;
a tubular section coupling the nosepiece and the medicament supply unit; and
a mouthpiece configured for the subject to exhale through and generate an exhalation flow sufficient to cause closure of an oropharyngeal velum of the subject and allow for bi-directional flow through a nasal cavity of the subject when the nosepiece is fit in the nostril.
65 . The delivery device of claim 64 , wherein the substance is delivered as a powder.
66 . The delivery device of claim 64 , wherein the substance is delivered as a liquid.
67 . The delivery device of claim 64 , wherein the substance is delivered as a powder, followed by application of a liquid.
68 . The delivery device of claim 64 , wherein the substance includes a thickening agent, which thickens following delivery on exposure to moisture.
69 . The delivery device of claim 68 , wherein the thickening agent comprises pectin, agar-agar, lignin, algin, gums, and/or cellulose.
70 . The delivery device of claim 64 , wherein the substance is mixed with lactose.
71 . A delivery device for delivering oxytocin to an upper posterior, olfactory region of a nasal airway of a subject for treatment of 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, the delivery device comprising:
a nosepiece configured to fit in a nostril of the subject;
a medicament supply unit for supplying a gas flow that entrains the substance;
a tubular section coupling the nosepiece and the medicament supply unit; and
a mouthpiece configured for the subject to exhale through and generate an exhalation flow sufficient to cause closure of an oropharyngeal velum of the subject and allow for bi-directional flow through a nasal cavity of the subject when the nosepiece is fit in the nostril.
72 . The delivery device of claim 71 , wherein about 1 IU to about 100 IU of oxytocin is delivered.
73 . The delivery device of claim 71 , wherein the oxytocin is delivered as a powder.
74 . The delivery device of claim 71 , wherein the oxytocin is delivered as a liquid.
75 . The delivery device of claim 71 , wherein the oxytocin is delivered as a powder, followed by application of a liquid.
76 . The delivery device of claim 71 , further including delivery of a thickening agent, which thickens following delivery on exposure to moisture.
77 . The delivery device of claim 76 , wherein the thickening agent comprises pectin, agar-agar, lignin, algin, gums, and/or cellulose.
78 . The delivery device of claim 71 , further including delivery of lactose with the oxytocin.
