Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure a system for capturing proppant dust particles when positioned at a fracking operation site including a proppant delivery assembly to receive one or more containers having proppant stored therein. The system dispenses the proppant from the one or more containers and delivers the proppant to other fracking operation equipment. Moreover, the system includes a dust collection assembly positioned proximate and associated with the proppant delivery assembly to capture dust particles released by movement and settling of the proppant when being dispensed and delivered by the proppant delivery assembly. The dust collection assembly is positioned to direct an air flow in a flow path overlying the dust particles to capture the dust particles and move the dust particles away from the proppant thereby reducing risk of dust exposure to fracking operation site personnel.

Claims (12)

1. A catch box for a proppant mover having a shroud enclosing a conveyor belt having that deposits proppant from a mover outlet into a chute at a conveyor location adjacent an end roller where the conveyor belt rotates over a roller, the catch box comprising:

a catch box container arranged beneath a lower surface of the shroud, the catch box container having an inclined surface positioned adjacent the conveyor belt to direct residual particles away therefrom toward a lower section of the catch box and an interior volume to catch and store the residual particles not discharged into the chute as settled particles;

an inlet positioned in an upper region of the catch box container adjacent the mover outlet providing fluid communication from the chute into the interior volume of the catch box to draw residual particles into the catch box container; and

an outlet for removing settled particles from the catch box container.

2. The catch box as defined in claim 1 , wherein the outlet is positioned at a lower section of the catch box container such that the residual particles will settle near the outlet to enable removal of the settled particles when suction pressure is applied thereto.

3. The catch box as defined in claim 1 , wherein the desired location is a proppant container, and wherein the proppant is transferred from the proppant mover in a direction away from the catch box.

4. The catch box as defined in claim 3 , wherein the outlet is positioned adjacent an upper section having a conduit connection when operable to enable removal of settled dust particles via suction applied to the outlet.

5. A catch box for a proppant mover having a shroud enclosing a conveyor and having a mover outlet that discharges proppant therefrom through a chute to a desired location outside the catch box, the catch box comprising:

a catch box container arranged beneath a lower surface of the shroud, the catch box container having an inclined surface adjacent the conveyor to direct the residual particles away therefrom and an interior volume to catch and store residual particles not discharged into the chute as settled particles;

an inlet positioned in an upper region of the catch box container adjacent the mover outlet providing fluid communication from the chute into the interior volume of the catch box to draw residual particles into the catch box volume; and

an outlet for removing settled particles from the catch box container.

6. The catch box as defined in claim 5 , wherein the catch box further comprises a vertical side opposite the inclined side, wherein the vertical side and the inclined side direct the residual particles toward a lower section of the catch box where the outlet is formed.
