Abstract

A viewing angle changing film capable of changing the viewing angle of a display panel is provided. The viewing angle changing film includes a base film opposed to a display panel, and an attachment having a thickness smaller than a thickness of the base film. The base film can change the viewing angle of the display panel. The attachment is inserted into air gap defined between the display panel and a bezel. The attachment is a separate member from the base film, and is fixed to the base film.

Claims (22)

1. A protective film comprising:

a base film changes a viewing angle of a display panel on which said protective film is placed; and

a flat attachment film, which is fixed to said base film, includes a plurality of attachements inserted into an air gap defined between said display panel and a bezel covering an outer edge of said display panel, wherein said plurality of attachments are thinner than said base film.

2. The protective film of claim 1 , wherein said attachment film transmits light, and is thinner than said base film, and has an outer shape larger than said base film.

3. The protective film of claim 1 , wherein said attachment film has an attachment on an outside of an end of said base film.

4. The protective film of claim 1 , wherein said base film adheres to said attachment film via an optical adhesive.

5. The protective film of claim 1 , wherein one of said attachments has a plurality of protrusions protruding to an outside from an end of said base film.

6. The protective film of claim 5 , wherein said one attachment has a joint to join said plurality of protrusions at a position closer to said base film than leading ends of said plurality of protrusions.

7. The protective film of claim 6 , wherein said joint is curved to be wider at ends joining with said plurality of protrusions.

8. The protective film of claim 1 , wherein a plurality of base film attachments are disposed along an outer edge of said base film and are away from each other.

9. The protective film of claim 8 , wherein said base film attachments are offset from a center of one side of said base film.

10. The protective film of claim 8 , wherein said base film attachments are disposed at positions corresponding to at least three sides of said base film.

11. The protective film of claim 1 , wherein said base film includes a functional film for transmitting light in a predetermined direction only and a surface viewing angle changing film for transmitting light and covering said functional film.

12. The protective film of claim 11 , wherein said base film has a rear-face viewing angle changing film for transmitting light and facing said surface viewing angle changing film while sandwiching said functional film therebetween.

13. An electronic apparatus, comprising:

a display panel;

a bezel surrounding an outer edge of said display panel; and

a protective film having

a base film for changing a viewing angle of said display panel on which said protective film is placed; and

a flat attachment film, which is fixed to said base film, includes a plurality of attachements inserted into an air gap defined between said display panel and a bezel covering an outer edge of said display panel, wherein said plurality of attachments are thinner than said base film.

14. The electronic apparatus of claim 13 , wherein said bezel adheres to said display panel via an adhesive layer disposed at said air gap.

15. The electronic apparatus of claim 14 , wherein a plurality of adhesive layers is disposed along an outer edge of said display panel, and one of said attachments is inserted into an air gap defined between neighboring adhesive layers.
