Abstract

A system is provided for controlling a first switch terminal of a building occupied by one or more building occupants. The system includes a first plurality of switch terminals at the building. A first computer system is coupled to the first switch terminal or equivalent of the building at a first location of the building. The first computer system runs on at least one platform. A first plurality of sensors is coupled to the first switch terminal and the first computer system. At least a portion of the first plurality of sensors provide signal data to the first computer system. The first computer system produces a command or data output that relates to at least one of: a command output for a local control system, a command output for a different system, a data output for a different system, a command output for a non-local device or a data output that is a non-local device. A second switch terminal includes a second plurality of sensors coupled to a second computer system. The system is configured to provide that all or a portion of the building is controllable for different activities of a building occupant.

Claims (44)

1 . A system for controlling a first switch terminal or equivalent of a building occupied by one or more building occupants, comprising:

one or more switch terminals the system including a plurality of switch terminal parameters for a switch terminal relative to the building, comprising:

a first computer system coupled to the first switch terminal or equivalent of the building at a first location of the building;

a first plurality of sensors couple the first switch terminal or equivalent and the first computer system, at least a portion of the sensors are configured to provide signal data to the first computer system, the first computer system producing a command or data output that relates to at least one of: a command output for a local control system, a command output for a different system, a data output for a different system, a command output for a non-local device or a data output that is a non-local device

a second switch terminal that includes a second plurality of sensors coupled to a second computer system; and

wherein the system is configured to provide that all or a portion of the building is controllable for different activities of a building occupant.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is configured to control lighting in all or a selection section of the building.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is configured to select different lighting conditions consistent with a building occupant's circadian rhythm.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is configured to provide that all or a portion of the building is controllable for different activities.

5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is configured to provide that all or a portion of the building is controllable for sleep for different times of the day.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is configured that all or a portion of the building is controllable consistent with a building occupant's circadian rhythm.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is configured to provide for automatic dimming of lights.

8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the system is configured to provide for automatic dimming of lights that is consistent with a building occupant's circadian rhythm.

9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is configured to provide for a reduction of an interference of a building occupant's circadian rhythm.

10 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is configured to provide for determining a building occupant's sleep patterns.

11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the system is configured to provide for determining a building occupant's wake patterns.

12 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the system is configured to provide for determining a building occupant's one or more times that a building occupant goes to bed for sleep.

13 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is configured to know a building occupant's normal circadian clock.

14 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is configured to provide an understanding of historical patterns of a building occupant's preferred amount of light for a given instance of a building occupant's occupancy in at least a portion of the building.

15 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is configured to provide an understanding of historical patterns of a building occupant's preferred amount of light for a given instance of a building occupant's occupancy in at least a portion of a space in a coincident set of contextual factors.

16 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the contextual factors are selected from at least one of a building occupant's: historical data, current activates, presence, building occupant intent, type of space, time of day, and connection of movement of a building occupant from one space to another in order to provide a proffered amount of light for functional purposes.

17 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is configured to identify an actual building occupant and provide for suitable lighting conditions relative to that building occupant's normal circadian clock.

18 . A system for controlling a first switch terminal or equivalent of a building occupied by one or more building occupants, comprising:

one or more switch terminals the system including a plurality of switch terminal parameters for a switch terminal relative to the building, comprising:

a first computer system coupled to the first switch terminal or equivalent of the building at a first location of the building;

a first plurality of sensors coupled to the first switch terminal or equivalent and the first computer system, at least a portion of the sensors are configured to provide signal data to the first computer system, the first computer system producing a command or data output that relates to at least one of: a command output for a local control system, a command output for a different system, a data output for a different system, a command output for a non-local device or a data output that is a non-local device;

a second switch terminal that includes a second plurality of sensors coupled to a second computer system; and

wherein the system is configured to provide that all or a portion of the building is controllable for different activities of at least two building occupants.

19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the system is configured to control lighting in all or a selection section of the building.

20 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the system is configured to select different lighting conditions consistent with at least two building occupants' circadian rhythm.
