Abstract

An implant comprises an elongated plate having a first major face and at least one locking screw hole, to receive a locking fastener oriented normal to the major face. The elongated plate has a wall with a flat surface normal to the first major face. A non-locking screw hole is located between the locking screw hole and the wall. The non-locking screw hole is configured to receive a non-locking fastener oriented at an acute angle relative to the locking fastener.

Claims (28)

1. An implant, comprising:

an elongated plate having a first major face and an opposing top face;

a first screw hole extending from the top face to the first major face and configured to receive a first fastener;

a wall having:

a flat surface normal to the first major face; and

a concave fillet between the flat surface and the first screw hole, the concave fillet being continuous with the top face; and

a second screw hole extending through the concave fillet and configured to receive a second fastener oriented at an acute angle relative to the first fastener.

2. The implant of claim 1 , further comprising an insertion member extending beyond the wall in an anterior direction, away from the elongated plate, the insertion member having a bottom surface continuous and coplanar with the first major face, the insertion member configured to be inserted into a cut bone.

3. The implant of claim 2 , wherein the insertion member has a series of barbs, each barb has an anterior edge and a posterior edge, the anterior edge having a first angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the implant, the posterior edge having a second angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the implant, the first angle being smaller than the second angle.

4. The implant of claim 2 , wherein the insertion member has a top surface opposite the bottom surface, and wherein a plurality of barbs are formed in the top surface and are configured to engage the cut bone.

5. The implant of claim 4 , wherein the insertion member has a first side and a second side connecting the top surface and the bottom surface, and wherein a plurality of barbs are formed in each of the first side and the second side.

6. The implant of claim 1 , further comprising a compression slot extending from the top face to the first major face, the compression slot located between the proximal screw hole and the wall.

7. The implant of claim 6 , wherein the compression slot has a ramped surface on an end of the compression slot nearest the wall.

8. The implant of claim 1 , further comprising an expanding anchor punch extending from the wall and a pin-drive-hole extending through the wall such that a pin can be inserted through the pin-drive-hole to expand the anchor punch.

9. An implant, comprising:

an elongated plate extending between a posterior end and an anterior end, the elongated plate having a first major face and an opposing top face;

a proximal screw hole extending from the top face to the first major face and configured to receive a first fastener;

a wall at the anterior end of the elongated plate, the wall having:

a flat surface normal to the first major face; and

an angled surface between the flat surface and the proximal screw hole, the angled surface extending from the top face; and

an anterior screw hole extending from the angled surface to the flat surface and configured to receive a second fastener oriented at an acute angle relative to the first fastener.

10. The implant of claim 9 , further comprising a compression slot extending from the top face to the first major face, the compression slot located between the proximal screw hole and the wall.

11. The implant of claim 10 , wherein the compression slot has a ramped surface on an end of the compression slot nearest the wall.

12. The implant of claim 9 , further comprising a second proximal screw hole extending from the top face to the first major face, the proximal screw hole and the second proximal screw hole arranged symmetrically about a longitudinal axis of the implant.

13. The implant of claim 9 , further comprising an insertion member extending beyond the wall in an anterior direction, away from the elongated plate, the insertion member configured to be inserted into a cut bone.

14. The implant of claim 13 , wherein the insertion member has a top surface opposite a bottom surface, and wherein a plurality of barbs are formed in the top surface and are configured to engage the cut bone.

15. The implant of claim 14 , wherein the insertion member has a first side and a second side connecting the top surface and the bottom surface, and wherein a plurality of barbs are formed in each of the first side and the second side.

16. The implant of claim 9 , further comprising an expanding anchor punch extending from the wall and a pin-drive-hole extending through the wall such that a pin can be inserted through the pin-drive-hole to expand the anchor punch.
