Abstract

A non-transitory computer readable recording medium having stored thereon instructions to be executed on by a game server, the game server and corresponding method which cause the game server to perform the steps of: provide a networked multiplayer battle game over a network, storing a battle history including an identifier of an opponent with whom a user has battled in the multiplayer battle game; determining, based on the battle history and an identifier of an opponent with whom a battle begins, a procedure for conducting the battle in the battle game to be one of a first mode for conducting the battle based on user operations and a second mode for conducting the battle with fewer user operations than in the first mode, and conducting the battle with the determined procedure.

Claims (160)

1. A non-transitory computer readable recording medium having stored thereon instructions to be executed on a computer transmitting a battle game to a communication terminal that is connected to the computer over a network, the instructions causing the computer to perform the steps of:

communicating with the communication terminal over the network;

receiving input information from the communication terminal to configure a battle of the battle game, the input information indicating at least one user operation of a user of the communication terminal;

in response to receipt of the input information, determining an opponent with whom the user is to battle in the battle of the battle game;

determining whether the user has battled with the determined opponent in the past;

in response to a determination that the user has not battled with the determined opponent in the past, automatically determining a procedure for executing the battle to be a first mode for executing the battle, the first mode causing the battle to be executed based on at least one user operation received from the communication terminal;

in response to a determination that the user has battled with the determined opponent in the past, determining based on at least one user operation received from the communication terminal, the procedure to be one of the first mode and a second mode, the second mode requiring fewer user operations received from the communication terminal for executing the battle than the first mode; and

executing the battle with the determined procedure by at least one of:

sending an instruction to the communication terminal to perform the battle with the determined procedure; and

performing the battle with the determined procedure and sending display data to the communication terminal, the sent display data causing at least one of a progress and a result of the battle to be displayed in a game screen of the communication terminal.

2. The non-transitory computer readable recording medium of claim 1 , wherein:

the determined opponent has a plurality of enemy characters involved in the battle; and

the execution of the battle with the second mode is performed by:

automatically controlling a character of the user during the battle; and

automatically selecting cards from a deck of the user for which a command type is attack to automatically attack the enemy characters of the opponent in order starting with a first one of the enemy characters.

3. The non-transitory computer readable recording medium of claim 2 , wherein the instructions further cause the computer to perform the steps of:

continuing to automatically select the cards from the deck of the user for which the command type is attack to automatically attack the enemy characters of the opponent in order until the battle is over;

determining that the battle is over when:

a hit point level for each of the plurality of enemy characters reaches zero; or

a hit point level for the user's character reaches zero; and

upon a determination that the battle is over:

calculating a battle result;

calculating a remaining hit point level for the user's character; and

transmitting the calculated battle result and the calculated remaining hit point level for the user's character to the communication terminal.

4. The non-transitory computer readable recording medium of claim 1 , wherein the execution of the battle with the second mode is performed by:

automatically controlling a character of the user; and

automatically selecting cards from a deck of the user by prioritizing the selection of cards having commands with a long recovery turn.

5. The non-transitory computer readable recording medium of claim 4 , wherein the instructions further cause the computer to perform the steps of:

continuing to automatically select the cards from the deck of the user by prioritizing the selection of cards having commands with a long recovery turn until the battle is over;

determining that the battle is over when:

a hit point level for each enemy character reaches zero; or

a hit point level for the user's character reaches zero; and

upon a determination that the battle is over:

calculating a battle result;

calculating a remaining hit point level for the user's character; and

transmitting the calculated battle result and the calculated remaining hit point level for the user's character to the communication terminal.

6. The non-transitory computer readable recording medium of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the computer to perform the steps of:

accessing a stored battle history table for the user; and

determining, based on the accessed battle history table, whether the user has battled with the determined opponent in the past.

7. The non-transitory computer readable recording medium of claim 6 , wherein the instructions further cause the computer to perform the steps of:

determining, based on the accessed battle history table, whether the user has battled with the determined opponent in the past and won at least one of the past battles; and

only in response to a determination that the user has battled with the determined opponent in the past and won, determining based on the at least one user operation received from the communication terminal, the procedure to be one of the first mode and the second mode.

8. A non-transitory computer readable recording medium having stored thereon instructions to be executed on a computer transmitting a battle game to a communication terminal that is connected to the computer over a network, the instructions causing the computer to perform the steps of:

communicating with the communication terminal over the network;

receiving input information from the communication terminal to configure a battle of the battle game, the input information indicating at least one user operation of a user of the communication terminal;

in response to receipt of the input information, determining an opponent with whom the user is to battle in the battle of the battle game;

determining whether the user has battled with the determined opponent in the past;

in response to a determination that the user has not battled with the determined opponent in the past, automatically determining a procedure for executing the battle to be a first mode for executing the battle, the first mode causing the battle to be executed based on a plurality of user battle operations received from the communication terminal, the first mode causing the battle to be rendered and a battle result to be displayed on the communication terminal with a first mode display screen, the first mode display screen usable to accept each user battle operation during the battle and display a result of each user operation during the battle;

in response to a determination that the user has battled with the determined opponent in the past, instructing the communication terminal to provide an option for conducting the battle according to a second mode, the second mode requiring fewer user battle operations received from the communication terminal for executing the battle than the first mode, the second mode causing a result of the battle to be rendered on the communication terminal with a second mode display screen, the second mode display screen having (i) a shorter display time than the first mode display screen and (ii) a simpler visual rendition than the first mode display screen;

in response to receiving an indication of a selection of the option for conducting the battle according to the second mode from the communication terminal, automatically determining the procedure for executing the battle to be the second mode; and

executing the battle with the determined procedure by at least one of:

sending an instruction to the communication terminal to perform the battle with the determined procedure; and

performing the battle with the determined procedure and sending display data to the communication terminal, the sent display data causing at least one of a progress and a result of the battle to be displayed in a game screen of the communication terminal.

9. The non-transitory computer readable recording medium of claim 8 , wherein:

the determined opponent has a plurality of enemy characters involved in the battle; and

the execution of the battle with the second mode is performed by:

automatically controlling a character of the user during the battle; and

automatically selecting cards from a deck of the user for which a command type is attack to automatically attack the enemy characters of the opponent in order starting with a first one of the enemy characters.

10. The non-transitory computer readable recording medium of claim 9 , wherein the instructions further cause the computer to perform the steps of:

continuing to automatically select the cards from the deck of the user for which the command type is attack to automatically attack the enemy characters of the opponent in order until the battle is over;

determining that the battle is over when:

a hit point level for each of the plurality of enemy characters reaches zero; or

a hit point level for the user's character reaches zero; and

upon a determination that the battle is over:

calculating the battle result;

calculating a remaining hit point level for the user's character; and

transmitting the calculated battle result and the calculated remaining hit point level for the user's character to the communication terminal.

11. The non-transitory computer readable recording medium of claim 8 , wherein the execution of the battle with the second mode is performed by:

automatically controlling a character of the user; and

automatically selecting cards from a deck of the user by prioritizing the selection of cards having commands with a long recovery turn.

12. The non-transitory computer readable recording medium of claim 11 , wherein the instructions further cause the computer to perform the steps of:

continuing to automatically select the cards from the deck of the user by prioritizing the selection of cards having commands with a long recovery turn until the battle is over;

determining that the battle is over when:

a hit point level for each enemy character reaches zero; or

a hit point level for the user's character reaches zero; and

upon a determination that the battle is over:

calculating the battle result;

calculating a remaining hit point level for the user's character; and

transmitting the calculated battle result and the calculated remaining hit point level for the user's character to the communication terminal.

13. A battle game server, comprising:

a network interface configured to communicate with a communication terminal over a network; and

a processor programmed to:

receive input information from the communication terminal to configure a battle of a battle game, the input information indicating at least one user operation of a user of the communication terminal;

in response to receipt of the input information, determine an opponent with whom the user is to battle in the battle of the battle game;

determine whether the user has battled with the determined opponent in the past;

in response to a determination that the user has not battled with the determined opponent in the past, automatically determine a procedure for executing the battle to be a first mode for executing the battle, the first mode causing the battle to be executed based on at least one user operation received from the communication terminal;

in response to a determination that the user has battled with the determined opponent in the past, determine based on at least one user operation received from the communication terminal, the procedure to be one of the first mode and a second mode, the second mode requiring fewer user operations received from the communication terminal for executing the battle than the first mode; and

execute the battle with the determined procedure by at least one of:

sending an instruction to perform the battle with the determined procedure to the communication terminal via the network interface; and

performing the battle with the determined procedure and sending display data to the communication terminal via the network interface, the sent display data causing at least one of a progress and a result of the battle to be displayed in a game screen of the communication terminal.

14. The battle game server of claim 13 , wherein:

the determined opponent has a plurality of enemy characters involved in the battle; and

the processor is programmed to execute the battle with the second mode by:

automatically controlling a character of the user during the battle; and

automatically selecting cards from a deck of the user for which a command type is attack to automatically attack the enemy characters of the opponent in order starting with a first one of the enemy characters.

15. The battle game server of claim 14 , wherein the processor is programmed to execute the battle with the second mode by:

continuing to automatically select the cards from the deck of the user for which the command type is attack to automatically attack the enemy characters of the opponent in order until the battle is over;

determining that the battle is over when:

a hit point level for each of the plurality of enemy characters reaches zero; or

a hit point level for the user's character reaches zero; and

upon a determination that the battle is over:

calculating a battle result;

calculating a remaining hit point level for the user's character; and

transmitting the calculated battle result and the calculated remaining hit point level for the user's character to the communication terminal.

16. The battle game server of claim 13 , wherein the processor is programmed to execute the battle with the second mode by:

automatically controlling a character of the user; and

automatically selecting cards from a deck of the user by prioritizing the selection of cards having commands with a long recovery turn.

17. The battle game server of claim 16 , wherein the processor is programmed to execute the battle with the second mode by:

continuing to automatically select the cards from the deck of the user by prioritizing the selection of cards having commands with a long recovery turn until the battle is over;

determining that the battle is over when:

a hit point level for each enemy character reaches zero; or

a hit point level for the user's character reaches zero; and

upon a determination that the battle is over:

calculating a battle result;

calculating a remaining hit point level for the user's character; and

transmitting the calculated battle result and the calculated remaining hit point level for the user's character to the communication terminal.

18. The battle game server of claim 13 , wherein the processor is programmed to:

access a stored battle history table for the user; and

determine, based on the accessed battle history table, whether the user has battled with the determined opponent in the past.

19. The battle game server of claim 18 , wherein the processor is programmed to:

determine, based on the accessed battle history table, whether the user has battled with the determined opponent in the past and won at least one of the past battles; and

only in response to a determination that the user has battled with the determined opponent in the past and won, determine based on the at least one user operation received from the communication terminal, the procedure to be one of the first mode and the second mode.

20. A battle game server, comprising:

a network interface configured to communicate with a communication terminal over a network; and

a processor programmed to:

receive input information from the communication terminal to configure a battle of a battle game, the input information indicating at least one user operation of a user of the communication terminal;

in response to receipt of the input information, determine an opponent with whom the user is to battle in the battle;

determine whether the user has battled with the determined opponent in the past;

in response to a determination that the user has not battled with the determined opponent in the past, automatically determine a procedure for executing the battle to be a first mode for executing the battle, the first mode causing the battle to be executed based on a plurality of user battle operations received from the communication terminal, the first mode causing the battle to be rendered and a battle result to be displayed on the communication terminal with a first mode display screen, the first mode display screen usable to accept each user battle operation during the battle and display a result of each user operation during the battle;

in response to a determination that the user has battled with the determined opponent in the past, instruct the communication terminal to provide an option for conducting the battle according to a second mode, the second mode requiring fewer user battle operations received from the communication terminal for executing the battle than the first mode, the second mode causing a result of the battle to be rendered on the communication terminal with a second mode display screen, the second mode display screen having (i) a shorter display time than the first mode display screen and (ii) a simpler visual rendition than the first mode display screen;

in response to receiving an indication of a selection of the option for conducting the battle according to the second mode from the communication terminal via the network interface, automatically determine the procedure for executing the battle to be the second mode; and

execute the battle with the determined procedure by at least one of:

sending an instruction to the communication terminal to perform the battle with the determined procedure; and

performing the battle with the determined procedure and sending display data to the communication terminal, the sent display data causing at least one of a progress and result of the battle to be displayed in a game screen of the communication terminal.

21. The battle game server of claim 20 , wherein:

the determined opponent has a plurality of enemy characters involved in the battle; and

the processor is programmed to execute the battle with the second mode by:

automatically controlling a character of the user during the battle; and

automatically selecting cards from a deck of the user for which a command type is attack to automatically attack the enemy characters of the opponent in order starting with a first one of the enemy characters.

22. The battle game server of claim 21 , wherein the processor is programmed to execute the battle with the second mode by:

continuing to automatically select the cards from the deck of the user for which the command type is attack to automatically attack the enemy characters of the opponent in order until the battle is over;

determining that the battle is over when:

a hit point level for each of the plurality of enemy characters reaches zero; or

a hit point level for the user's character reaches zero; and

upon a determination that the battle is over:

calculating the battle result;

calculating a remaining hit point level for the user's character; and

transmitting the calculated battle result and the calculated remaining hit point level for the user's character to the communication terminal.

23. The battle game server of claim 20 , wherein the processor is programmed to execute the battle with the second mode by:

automatically controlling a character of the user; and

automatically selecting cards from a deck of the user by prioritizing the selection of cards having commands with a long recovery turn.

24. The battle game server of claim 23 , wherein the processor is programmed to execute the battle with the second mode by:

continuing to automatically select the cards from the deck of the user by prioritizing the selection of cards having commands with a long recovery turn until the battle is over;

determining that the battle is over when:

a hit point level for each enemy character reaches zero; or

a hit point level for the user's character reaches zero; and

upon a determination that the battle is over:

calculating the battle result;

calculating a remaining hit point level for the user's character; and

transmitting the calculated battle result and the calculated remaining hit point level for the user's character to the communication terminal.
