Abstract

An injection device having a distal end, and including a needle located inside the injection device in an initial position, wherein the needle is moveable to a puncturing position in which the needle projects from the distal end, an open region located distally relative to the needle in the initial position of the needle and having a dimension, a reduction piece moveable relative to the opening region whereby the dimension may be reduced and a holding member that latchingly connects to the reduction piece and a product container holder.

Claims (18)

1. An injection device for administering a product, comprising:

a sleeve shaped housing;

a needle protecting sleeve accommodated in the housing such that it can be longitudinally shifted and simultaneously serves as a triggering element;

a product container holder accommodating a product container, wherein the product container is provided with a detachably fastened needle protecting cap;

a driven member acting on the product container; and

a removing element which comprises engaging members for removing the needle protecting cap from the product container,

wherein in the injection device as dispatched, the needle protecting sleeve is axially fixed relative to the housing by means of an engaging member of the needle protecting sleeve which engages in a positive fit with an engaging counter member formed by the housing,

wherein the removing element comprises a holding portion which in the injection device as dispatched is situated axially level with the engaging member of the needle protecting sleeve such that the needle protecting sleeve is prevented from moving relative to the housing, and

wherein removing the removing element removes the holding portion and enables the engaging member of the needle protecting sleeve to move.

2. The injection device according to claim 1 , wherein the removing element forms an annular gap such that when the removing element is attached, the engaging member of the needle protecting sleeve and the engaging counter member of the housing are situated in the annular gap.

3. The injection device according to claim 1 , wherein the engaging member of the needle protecting sleeve is spring-elastically mounted and can be moved transverse to a longitudinal axis of the injection device.

4. The injection device according to claim 1 , wherein a drive member is accommodated within a sleeve-shaped portion of the driven member.

5. The injection device according to claim 4 , wherein the drive member is configured as a biased helical pressure spring.

6. The injection device according to claim 1 , wherein a spring element supplies the energy for shifting the needle protecting sleeve to a needle protecting position.

7. The injection device according to claim 1 , wherein the driven member can be shifted in the distal direction by a drive member configured as an advancing spring to shift the product container for an automatic injection movement of the needle.

8. The injection device according to claim 1 , wherein the injection device is designed for manual injecting.

9. The injection device according to claim 1 , wherein the removing element is fastened to a distal end of the injection device to prevent access to the needle protecting sleeve which protrudes beyond the distal end of the housing.

10. The injection device according to claim 9 , wherein the removing element comprises a sleeve-shaped holding portion which in the injection device as dispatched is situated on the inner circumference of the needle protecting sleeve axially level with the engaging member of the needle protecting sleeve, to prevent the engaging member of the needle protecting sleeve from moving inwardly, thereby to prevent the needle protecting sleeve from moving relative to the housing in the injection device as dispatched.
