Abstract

An Internet of Thing (IoT) device includes a head portion; an elongated stress sensor coupled to the head portion, the stress sensor coupled to a surface; a processor coupled to the stress sensor; and a wireless transceiver coupled to the processor.

Claims (26)

1. An Internet of Thing (IoT) device, comprising:

a head portion;

a structure sensor in an elongated body extending from the head portion, the structure sensor coupled to a surface;

a processor coupled to the structure sensor and in the IoT device; and

a wireless transceiver coupled to the processor and in the IoT device.

2. The IoT device of claim 1 , comprising an elongated body enclosing the structure sensor and coupled to the head portion to form a bolt.

3. The IoT device of claim 1 , comprising a washer coupled to the head portion, wherein the body comprises a threaded portion positioned through an aperture of the washer and wherein the stress sensor is positioned in a core of the threaded portion or adjacent a washer.

4. The IoT device of claim 1 , comprising providing sensor data to a crowd and requesting from the crowd as a game one or more reasons explaining sensor data.

5. The IoT device of claim 1 , wherein the wireless transceiver is in a recessed chamber.

6. The IoT device of claim 1 , comprising a camera coupled to the processor.

7. The IoT device of claim 1 , comprising an electronic nose or electronic tongue coupled to the processor for environmental detection.

8. The IoT device of claim 1 , comprising a cloud based image processing system to receive images from the camera and recognize an image.

9. The IoT device of claim 1 , wherein the stress structure sensor is coupled to a bolt, a screw, a stud or a fastener.

10. The IoT device of claim 1 , comprising a wireless mesh network coupled to the wireless transceiver to transfer data from node to node.

11. A system, comprising:

a mesh network; and

a plurality of IoT devices mounted to a structure, each device having a head portion, a sensor in an elongated body to detect structural stress, a processor coupled to the sensor and in one IoT device, and a wireless transceiver coupled to the mesh network.

12. The system of claim 1 , comprising a bolt screw portion enclosing the sensor and coupled to the head.

13. The system of claim 1 , comprising an energy scavenging unit, a piezoelectric transducer, a solar cell, or a wireless energy capture unit to supply power to the processor.

14. The system of claim 1 , comprising code to analyze and predict stress.

15. The system of claim 1 , comprising code to analyze stress from all sensors and predict individual component failure for replacement prior to component failure.

16. The system of claim 11 , wherein the sensor is coupled to a bolt, a screw, a stud or a fastener.

17. The system of claim 11 , wherein the sensor is coupled to a surface to detect stress or vibration associated with the surface.

18. The system of claim 11 , comprising a camera coupled to the processor.

19. The system of claim 18 , wherein the camera is in the head portion.

20. The system of claim 18 , comprising a cloud based image processing system to receive images from the camera and recognize an image.
