Abstract

A method and system of revoking an attestation transaction regarding information of a user is provided. The method is implemented on a computer system having one or more physical processors configured by machine-readable instructions which, when executed perform the method, including generating a signed revocation transaction to revoke the previously attested information, wherein the information has been previously attested to in an attestation transaction stored within a centralized or distributed ledger at an attestation address, the centralized or distributed ledger providing a verifiable record of transactions; and sending the signed revocation transaction to the centralized or distributed ledger and revoking the attestation transaction by spending cryptocurrency associated with the attestation transaction.

Claims (34)

1 . A method of revoking an attestation transaction regarding information of a user, the method being implemented on a computer system having one or more physical processors configured by machine-readable instructions which, when executed perform the method, comprising:

generating a signed revocation transaction to revoke the previously attested information, wherein the information has been previously attested to in an attestation transaction stored within a centralized or distributed ledger at an attestation address, the centralized or distributed ledger providing a verifiable record of transactions; and

sending the signed revocation transaction to the centralized or distributed ledger and revoking the attestation transaction by spending cryptocurrency associated with the attestation transaction.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving a public key generated for the information;

combining a hash of the information with the public key to generate a public attest key; and

generating the attestation address based on the public attest key.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein generating the signed transaction comprises using a public key of the user.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprises providing a third party having a relationship with a user, the method further comprising receiving a request for revocation from the third party because a relationship between the user and the third party has become invalid.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a processor associated with the user generates the signed transaction which spends the cryptocurrency or dust associated with the existing attestation.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing a processor associated with an attestor for generating the attestation address associated with the attestation transaction.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein generating the signed transaction comprises using at least one of a public key of the user and a public key of the attestor.

8 . The method of claim 6 , wherein generating the signed transaction comprises using at least one of a public key of the user, a public key of the attestor, and a public key of a third party.

9 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the previously attested information to be revoked comprises at least a portion of the previously attested information that is no longer valid.

10 . The method of claim 6 , wherein spending cryptocurrency associated with the attestation transaction comprises transferring cryptocurrency to a wallet associated with the attestor.

11 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the processor associated with the attestor generates the signed transaction which spends the cryptocurrency or dust associated with a transaction.

12 . The method of claim 6 , wherein a processor associated with the user performs the step of identifying previously attested information to be revoked, and

wherein the processor associated with the attestor performs the steps of generating a signed revocation transaction to revoke the previously attested information; and broadcasting the signed revocation transaction to the centralized or distributed ledger and revoking the attestation transaction.

13 . A method of revoking an attestation transaction regarding information of a user, the method being implemented on a computer system having one or more physical processors configured by machine-readable instructions which, when executed perform the method, comprising:

generating a signed revocation transaction to revoke the previously attested information, wherein the information has been previously attested to in an attestation transaction stored within a centralized or distributed ledger at an attestation address, the centralized or distributed ledger providing a verifiable record of transactions;

sending the signed revocation transaction to the centralized or distributed ledger and revoking the attestation transaction by spending cryptocurrency associated with the attestation transaction; and

if there is new information to be attested to, generating a second attestation address associated with a second attestation transaction;

14 . The method of claim 13 , further comprising prior to generating a second attestation address, determining whether there is new information for attestation.

15 . The method of claim 13 , wherein generating a second attestation address comprises:

receiving a public key generated for the new information;

combining a hash of the new information with the public key to generate a public attest key; and

generating the second attestation address based on the public attest key.

16 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the new information comprises previously attested information to be revoked.

17 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the new information is associated with a different user than the previously attested information to be revoked.

18 . The method of claim 13 , further comprising providing a processor associated with an attestor for generating the second attestation address associated with the second attestation transaction based on the information.

19 . The method of claim 13 , further comprising generating a signed attestation using at least one of a public key of the user, a public key of the attestor, and a public key of a third party.

20 . A system of revoking an attestation transaction regarding information of a user, the system comprising

a computer system having one or more physical processors configured by machine-readable instructions to:

generate a signed revocation transaction to revoke the previously attested information, wherein the information has been previously attested to in an attestation transaction stored within a centralized or distributed ledger at an attestation address, the centralized or distributed ledger providing a verifiable record of transactions; and

send the signed revocation transaction to the centralized or distributed ledger and revoking the attestation transaction by spending cryptocurrency associated with the attestation transaction.
