Abstract

A method, system and computer program product for the transmission of data from a transmitter to receiver. The present invention is directed to improving data transmission. To this end, the transmission of data is accelerated, and an inband-signaling of information is carried out on an MAC-layer plane, wherein the information is particularly relevant to the base station (BS).

Claims (30)

1. One or more non-transitory, computer-readable media (NTCRM) including instructions, which when executed by a user equipment (UE), causes a Media Access Control (MAC) entity of the UE to:

receive an indication to trigger a Buffer Status Report (BSR);

generate, based the indication, a signaling transport block (STB) to include the BSR that is to indicate an amount of data available for transmission in an uplink buffer of the UE; and

multiplex the STB within a plurality of transport blocks (TBs) to be passed to a physical layer entity of the UE on a transport channel for transmission to a base station.

2. The one or more NTCRM of claim 1 , wherein, upon execution, the instructions are to further cause the MAC entity to: identify the amount of data available for transmission in the uplink buffer of the UE.

3. The one or more NTCRM of claim 1 , wherein to generate the STB the MAC entity is to multiplex the BSR with data of at least one logical traffic channel, or multiplex the BSR with data of the at least one logical control channel, based on a priority associated with the at least one logical control channel.

4. The one or more NTCRM of claim 3 , wherein the at least one logical traffic channel is a dedicated traffic channel (DTCH), and the at least one logical control channel is a dedicated control channel (DCCH) or a common control channel (CCCH).

5. The one or more NTCRM of claim 3 , wherein, upon execution, the instructions are to further cause the MAC entity to: map the data of the at least one logical traffic channel or the data of the at least one logical control channel to the transport channel.

6. The one or more NTCRM of claim 1 , wherein the STB includes padding of dummy bits.

7. An apparatus of a user equipment (UE) comprising:

processor circuitry to implement a Media Access Control (MAC) entity to:

receive an indication to trigger a Buffer Status Report (BSR);

generate, based the indication, a signaling transport block (STB) to include the BSR that is to indicate an amount of data available for transmission in an uplink buffer of the UE; and

multiplex the STB within a plurality of transport blocks (TBs) to be passed to a physical layer entity of the UE on a transport channel for transmission to a base station; and

signaling circuitry to transmit, on a transport channel, the multiplexed STB within the plurality of TBs including the Buffer Status Report to the base station.

8. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the processor circuitry is to implement the MAC entity to: identify the amount of data available for transmission in the uplink buffer of the UE.

9. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein to generate the STB the MAC entity is to multiplex the BSR with data of at least one logical traffic channel, or multiplex the BSR with data of the at least one logical control channel, based on a priority associated with the at least one logical control channel.

10. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the at least one logical traffic channel is a dedicated traffic channel (DTCH), and the at least one logical control channel is a dedicated control channel (DCCH) or a common control channel (CCCH).

11. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the processor circuitry is to implement the MAC entity to: map the data of the at least one logical traffic channel or the data of the at least one logical control channel to the transport channel.

12. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the STB includes padding of dummy bits.

13. One or more non-transitory, computer-readable media (NTCRM) including instructions, which when executed by a user equipment (UE), causes a Media Access Control enhanced uplink (MAC-EU) entity of the UE to:

receive a buffer status control message that includes an indication of a data volume of a transport channel;

generate, based on the reception of the buffer status control message, a Buffer Status Report (BSR) that is to indicate the data volume of the transport channel that is available for transmission in an uplink buffer of the UE; and

transmit the BSR via a signaling transport block (STB) to a physical layer entity of the UE on the transport channel for transmission to a base station.

14. The one or more NTCRM of claim 13 , wherein to transmit the BSR via the STB, the instructions are to cause the MAC-EU entity to generate the STB to include the BSR and transmit the STB to the physical layer entity of the UE on the transport channel for transmission to a base station.

15. The one or more NTCRM of claim 14 , wherein to generate the STB, the instructions are to cause the MAC-EU entity to multiplex the BSR with data of at least one logical traffic channel, or multiplex the BSR with data of the at least one logical control channel, based on a priority associated with the at least one logical control channel.

16. The one or more NTCRM of claim 15 , wherein the at least one logical traffic channel is a dedicated traffic channel (DTCH), and the at least one logical control channel is a dedicated control channel (DCCH) or a common control channel (CCCH).

17. The one or more NTCRM of claim 15 , wherein, upon execution, the instructions are to further cause the MAC-EU entity to map the data of the at least one logical traffic channel or the data of the at least one logical control channel to the transport channel.

18. The one or more NTCRM of claim 13 , wherein, upon execution, the instructions are further to cause the MAC-EU entity to multiplex the STB within a plurality of transport blocks (TBs) to be passed to the physical layer entity of the UE on the transport channel for transmission to a base station.

19. The one or more NTCRM of claim 13 , wherein, upon execution, the instructions are to further cause the MAC0EU entity to: determine the data volume of the transport channel that is available for transmission in the uplink buffer of the UE.
