10. The electrically groundable support surface of claim 8 wherein said cover portion includes an outer frame and an inner mesh portion, said outer frame and said inner mesh portion being constructed at least partially of electrically-conductive material and interconnected.

11. The electrically groundable support surface of claim 10 wherein said at least one electrically-conductive interface is provided on said frame.

12. The electrically groundable support surface of claim 11 further including multiple said electrically-conductive interfaces at different respective locations on said frame.

13. The electrically groundable support surface of claim 8 wherein said cover portion is constructed at least partially of metallic grating having spaces formed between metal strips.

14. An electrically groundable support surface for use on or near the earth's surface, the support surface comprising:

a mat having top and bottom surfaces, said mat being configured to be deployed on or near the surface of the earth; and

an electrically-conductive cover constructed at least partially of electrically-conductive material, said electrically-conductive cover being associated with said mat and having at least one inner panel constructed at least partially of metallic mesh having spaces formed between metal strips, each said inner panel being configured to extend at least partially across said top surface of said mat and be electrically grounded to the earth.

15. The electrically groundable support surface of claim 14 wherein said mat and said electrically-conductive cover are planar, further including at least one fastener for coupling said electrically-conductive cover to said mat.

16. The electrically groundable support surface of claim 15 further including at least one electrically-conductive interface configured to facilitate electrical connection of said electrically-conductive cover to another electrically-conductive component.

17. The electrically groundable support surface of claim 16 wherein said electrically-conductive cover has multiple sides, further including a plurality of electrically-conductive interfaces, at least one said conductive interface being disposed proximate to each respective side of said electrically-conductive cover.

18. An electrically groundable support surface for use on or near the earth's surface and being electrically connectable to at least one other electrically-conductive component, the support surface comprising:

a lower portion having top and bottom surfaces, said lower portion being configured to be deployed on or near the surface of the earth;

an electrically-conductive cover portion constructed at least partially of perforated electrically-conductive material, said cover portion extending at least partially across said top surface of said lower portion and being electrically groundable to the earth, wherein said cover portion allows the passage of liquid through said cover portion and into contact with said lower portion; and

at least one electrically-conductive interface configured to facilitate electrical connection of the support surface to another electrically-conductive component.

19. The electrically groundable support surface of claim 18 wherein said cover portion is constructed at least partially of mesh material having spaces formed between metal strips and configured to extend at least partially across said top of said lower portion.

20. The electrically groundable support surface of claim 19 further including multiple said electrically-conductive interfaces disposed at different respective locations on said cover portion.
