Abstract

A display device with less light leakage and excellent contrast is provided. A display device having a high aperture ratio and including a large-capacitance capacitor is provided. A display device in which wiring delay due to parasitic capacitance is reduced is provided. A display device includes a transistor over a substrate, a pixel electrode connected to the transistor, a signal line electrically connected to the transistor, a scan line electrically connected to the transistor and intersecting with the signal line, and a common electrode overlapping with the pixel electrode and the signal line with an insulating film provided therebetween. The common electrode includes stripe regions extending in a direction intersecting with the signal line.

Claims (32)

1. A display device comprising:

a first transistor comprising a first gate electrode, a first semiconductor film comprising a first channel region, and a first source electrode and a first drain electrode which are electrically connected to the first semiconductor film;

a second transistor comprising a second gate electrode, a second semiconductor film comprising a second channel region, and a second source electrode and a second drain electrode which are electrically connected to the second semiconductor film;

a first line electrically connected to the first gate electrode and the second gate electrode;

a second line electrically connected to one of the first source electrode and the first drain electrode;

a third line electrically connected to one of the second source electrode and the second drain electrode;

a first pixel electrode electrically connected to the other of the first source electrode and the first drain electrode;

a second pixel electrode electrically connected to the other of the second source electrode and the second drain electrode;

a first insulating film over the first transistor, the second transistor, the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode; and

a common electrode which is over the first insulating film,

wherein the first line intersects with the second line and the third line,

wherein the common electrode does not overlap with the first channel region and the second channel region,

wherein the common electrode comprises a first region extending in a direction intersecting with the first line,

wherein the first region of the common electrode intersects with the first line and the first region does not overlap with each of the second line and the third line,

wherein the common electrode comprises stripe regions,

wherein the stripe regions extend in a direction intersecting with the second line, intersect with the second line and the third line, and overlap with both of the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode, and

wherein the common electrode does not overlap an intersection of the first line and the second line and an intersection of the first line and the third line.

2. The display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the common electrode does not overlap with each of the first semiconductor film and the second semiconductor film.

3. The display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the striped regions each cross the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode.

4. The display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein one of the first source electrode and the first drain electrode comprises a region which extends parallel to the first line and is in contact with the first pixel electrode, and

wherein one of the second source electrode and the second drain electrode r comprises a region which extends parallel to the first line and is in contact with the second pixel electrode.

5. The display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the first semiconductor film, the second semiconductor film, the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode each comprise an In—Ga oxide, an In—Zn oxide, or an In-M-Zn oxide, and

wherein M represents Al, Ga, Y, Zr, La, Ce, or Nd.

6. The display device according to claim 5 , further comprising a second insulating film between the first insulating film and each of the first transistor and the second transistor,

wherein the first insulating film is a nitride insulating film in contact with the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode, and

wherein the second insulating film is an oxide insulating film in contact with the first semiconductor film and the second semiconductor film.

7. The display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the common electrode comprises an opening which overlaps both of the first channel region and the second channel region so that the common electrode does not overlap with the first channel region and the second channel region.
