Treatment of virus-based diseases of the skin
A method for treatment of virus-based diseases of the skin, in particular, herpes simplex virus type-1 and herpes zoster, which comprises topically administering to the skin of a subject suffering from a virus-based disease of the skin a therapeutically amount of an aqueous, aqueous/alcohol, or natural plant oil extract of dandelion.
1. A method for treating herpes zoster in a human in need thereof consisting essentially of topically administering to the skin of the human in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of an aqueous or aqueous/alcohol extract of Mongolian dandelion and an oil selected from the group consisting of flax oil, almond oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, lemon oil, olive oil, sesame seed oil, and sunflower oil.
2. A method for treating herpes zoster in a human in need thereof consisting essentially of topically administering to the skin of the human in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of an aqueous or aqueous/alcohol extract of Mongolian dandelion, an oil selected from the group consisting of flax oil, almond oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, lemon oil, olive oil, sesame seed oil, and sunflower oil, and a water or alcohol carrier, in a concentration of between 1:1 and 1:10 extract of dandelion to the water or alcohol carrier.
3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the extract of dandelion is administered diluted in a water or alcohol carrier in a concentration of 1:1 extract of dandelion to water or alcohol.
4. The method of claim 2 , wherein the extract of dandelion is administered diluted in a water or alcohol carrier in a concentration of 1:2 extract of dandelion to water or alcohol.
5. The method of claim 2 , wherein the extract of dandelion is administered diluted in a water or alcohol carrier in a concentration of 1:5 extract of dandelion to water or alcohol.
6. The method of claim 2 , wherein the extract of dandelion is administered diluted in a water or alcohol carrier in a concentration of 1:10 extract of dandelion to water or alcohol.
