Abstract

An image processing apparatus is connected to a camera head capable of imaging a left eye image and a right eye image having parallax on one screen based on light at a target site incident on an optical instrument. The image processing apparatus includes: a deriver that derives parameters of signal processing for the left eye image and the right eye image which are imaged by the camera head in accordance with switching from a 2D mode to a 3D mode; an image processor that performs the signal processing of the left eye image and the right eye image which are imaged by the camera head, based on the derived parameters; and an output controller that outputs the left eye image and the right eye image to which the signal processing is performed to a monitor.

Claims (24)

1. An image processing apparatus which is connected to a camera head capable of imaging on an imaging surface a left eye image and a right eye image having parallax on one screen based on light at a target site incident on an optical instrument, the apparatus comprising:

a processor and one or more memories that store a set of executable instructions such that the processor, when executing the set of executable instructions, causes the processor to operate as a deriver that derives parameters of signal processing for the left eye image and the right eye image which are imaged by the camera head in accordance with switching from a 2D mode to a 3D mode; and

an image processor that determines a photometric area from an imaging area of any one of the left eye image and the right eye image, calculates an exposure amount of the one of the left eye image or the right eye image, and then performs automatic exposure processing of the imaging area of both the left eye image and the right eye image, wherein when switching from the 2D mode to the 3D mode, the image processor divides the imaging surface into the any one of the left eye image and the right eye image in a horizontal direction only; and

a video output that outputs the left eye image and the right eye image to which the signal processing is performed to a monitor.

2. An image processing apparatus which is connected to a camera head capable of imaging on an imaging surface a left eye image and a right eye image having parallax on one screen based on light at a target site incident on an optical instrument, the apparatus comprising:

a processor and one or more memories that store a set of executable instructions such that the processor, when executing the set of executable instructions, causes the processor to operate as a deriver that derives parameters of signal processing for the left eye image and the right eye image which are imaged by the camera head in accordance with switching from a 2D mode to a 3D mode; and

an image processor that determines a photometric area from an imaging area of any one of the left eye image and the right eye image, calculates a white balance adjustment value of the one of the left eye image or the right eye image of the area, and then performs adjustment processing of the white balance of the imaging area of both the left eye image and the right eye image, wherein when switching from the 2D mode to the 3D mode, the image processor divides the imaging surface into the any one of the left eye image and the right eye image in a horizontal direction only; and

a video output that outputs the left eye image and the right eye image to which the signal processing is performed to a monitor.

3. The image processing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein:

the image processor measures a distance from the optical instrument to the target site based on parallax appearing in the left eye image and the right eye image which are imaged by the camera head in the 3D mode, and

the video output outputs the information on the distance to the monitor together with the left eye image and the right eye image to which the signal processing is performed.

4. The image processing apparatus of claim 3 ,

wherein the video output interrupts an output of information on the distance to the monitor in response to switching from the 3D mode to the 2D mode.

5. A camera apparatus comprising:

a camera head capable of imaging on an imaging surface a left eye image and a right eye image having parallax on one screen based on light at a target site incident on an optical instrument;

a processor and one or more memories that store a set of executable instructions such that the processor, when executing the set of executable instructions, causes the processor to operate as a deriver that derives parameters of signal processing for the left eye image and the right eye image which are imaged by the camera head in accordance with switching from a 2D mode to a 3D mode;

an image processor that determines a photometric area from an imaging area of any one of the left eye image and the right eye image, calculates an exposure amount of the one of the left eye image or the right eye image, and then performs automatic exposure processing of the imaging area of both the left eye image and the right eye image, wherein when switching from the 2D mode to the 3D mode, the image processor divides the imaging surface into the any one of the left eye image and the right eye image in a horizontal direction only; and

a video output that outputs the left eye image and the right eye image to which the signal processing is performed to a monitor.

6. An image processing method in which an image processing apparatus connected to a camera head capable of imaging on an imaging surface a left eye image and a right eye image having parallax on one screen based on light at a target site incident on an optical instrument is used, the method comprising:

deriving parameters of signal processing for the left eye image and the right eye image which are imaged by the camera head in accordance with switching from a 2D mode to a 3D mode;

determining a photometric area from an imaging area of any one of the left eye image and the right eye image;

calculating an exposure amount of the one of the left eye image or the right eye image;

thereafter performing automatic exposure processing of the imaging area of both the left eye image and the right eye image;

wherein when switching from the 2D mode to the 3D mode, dividing the imaging surface into the any one of the left eye image and the right eye image in a horizontal direction only; and outputting the left eye image and the right eye image to which the signal processing is performed to a monitor.
