INTRA MODE JVET CODING
A method of partitioning a video coding block for JVET, wherein a set of MPMs includes a set of other than 6 intra prediction coding modes and can be encoded using truncated unary binarization, 16 selected intra prediction coding modes can be encoded used 4 bits of fixed length code and remaining non-selected coding modes can be encoded using truncated binary coding and wherein a JVET coding tree unit can be coded as a root node in a quadtree plus binary tree (QTBT) structure that can have a quadtree branching from the root node and binary trees branching from each of the quadtree's leaf nodes using asymmetric binary partitioning to split a coding unit represented by a quadtree leaf node into child nodes, representing the child nodes as leaf nodes in a binary tree branching from the quadtree leaf node.
1 . A method of video coding for JVET intra prediction, comprising:
defining a set of unique intra prediction coding modes;
identifying and instantiating in memory a subset of unique MPM intra prediction coding modes from said set of unique intra prediction coding modes;
identifying and instantiating in memory a subset of unique selected intra prediction coding modes from said set of unique intra prediction coding modes other than said subset of unique MPM intra prediction coding modes;
identifying and instantiating in memory a subset of unique non-selected intra prediction coding modes from said set of unique intra prediction coding modes other than said subset of unique MPM intra prediction coding modes and other than said subset of unique selected intra prediction coding modes; and
coding said subset of unique MPM intra prediction coding modes using truncated unary binarization.
2 . The method of video coding for JVET intra prediction of claim 1 , wherein said subset of MPM intra prediction coding modes is a subset of less than 6 MPM intra prediction coding modes.
3 . The method of video coding for JVET intra predication of claim 2 , wherein said subset of selected intra prediction coding modes is a subset of 16 intra prediction coding modes.
4 . The method of video coding for JVET intra prediction of claim 3 , wherein said set of unique intra prediction coding modes is a set of 67 intra prediction coding modes.
5 . The method of video coding for JVET intra prediction of claim 1 , wherein said subset of MPM intra prediction coding modes is a subset of greater than 6 MPM intra prediction coding modes.
6 . The method of video coding for JVET intra predication of claim 5 , wherein said subset of selected intra prediction coding modes is a subset of 16 intra prediction coding modes.
7 . The method of video coding for JVET intra prediction of claim 6 , wherein said set of unique intra prediction coding modes is a set of 67 intra prediction coding modes.
8 . The method of video coding for JVET intra prediction of claim 1 , wherein said set of unique intra prediction coding modes is a set of 67 intra prediction coding modes.
9 . The method of video coding for JVET intra prediction of claim 8 , wherein said subset of MPM intra prediction coding modes is a subset of greater than 6 MPM intra prediction coding modes.
10 . The method of video coding for JVET intra predication of claim 2 , wherein said subset of selected intra prediction coding modes is a subset of 16 intra prediction coding modes.
11 . The method of video coding for JVET intra prediction of claim 10 , wherein said subset of selected intra prediction coding modes is encoded using 4 bits of fixed length code.
12 . The method of video coding for JVET intra prediction of claim 11 , wherein said subset of unique non-selected intra prediction coding modes is encoded using truncated binary coding.
13 . The method of video coding for JVET intra prediction of claim 1 :
wherein said subset of MPM intra prediction coding modes is a subset of 5 MPM intra prediction coding modes;
wherein said subset of selected intra prediction coding modes is a subset of 16 intra prediction coding modes and is encoded utilizing 4 bits of fixed length code; and
wherein said subset of unique non-selected intra prediction coding modes is a subset of 46 non-selected intra coding modes and is encoded using truncated binary coding.
14 . A system of video coding for JVET intra prediction, comprising:
instantiating in memory a set of 67 unique intra prediction coding modes;
instantiating in memory a subset of unique MPM intra prediction coding modes from said set of unique intra prediction coding modes;
instantiating in memory a subset of 16 unique selected intra prediction coding modes from said set of unique intra prediction coding modes other than said subset of unique MPM intra prediction coding modes;
instantiating in memory a subset of unique non-selected intra prediction coding modes from said set of unique intra prediction coding modes other than said subset of unique MPM intra prediction coding modes and other than said subset of unique selected intra prediction coding modes;
encoding said subset of unique MPM intra prediction coding modes using truncated unary binarization; and
encoding said subset of 16 unique selected intra prediction coding modes using 4 bits of fixed length code.
15 . The system of video coding for JVET intra prediction of claim 14 , wherein said subset of unique MPM intra prediction coding modes contains 5 or fewer unique MPM intra prediction coding modes.
16 . The system of video coding for JVET intra prediction of claim 14 , wherein said subset of unique MPM intra prediction coding modes contains 5 unique MPM intra prediction coding modes.
17 . The system of video coding for JVET intra prediction of claim 16 , wherein said subset of unique non-selected intra prediction coding modes contains 46 unique intra prediction coding modes.
18 . The system of video coding for JVET intra prediction of claim 14 , wherein said subset of unique MPM intra prediction coding modes contains 4 unique MPM intra prediction coding modes.
19 . The system of video coding for JVET intra prediction of claim 18 , wherein said subset of unique non-selected intra prediction coding modes contains 47 unique intra prediction coding modes.
