Compositions and methods to produce alkoxylated triazine-arylhydroxy-aldehyde condensates
View Patent ↗The embodiments described herein generally relate to methods and chemical compositions of triazine-arylhydroxy-aldehyde condensates. In one embodiment, a triazine-arylhydroxy-aldehyde condensate is reacted with at alkoxylation agent to form alkoxylated triazine-arylhydroxy-aldehyde condensates.
1. A polymer prepared using a formulation comprising:
a polyisocyanate; and
an isocyanate-reactive compound comprising at least one alkoxylated triazine-arylhydroxy-aldehyde condensate.
2. The polymer of claim 1 , wherein the formulation is free of a catalyst, free of a fire retardant, free of Mannich polyols, or combinations thereof.
3. The polymer of claim 1 , wherein the formulation comprises monomers of polyisocyanate and alkoxylated triazine-arylhydroxy-aldehyde.
4. The polymer of claim 3 , wherein the polyisocyanate comprises methylene diphenyl diisocyanate and the alkoxylated triazine-arylhydroxy-aldehyde comprises ethoxylated triazine-phenol-formaldehyde.
5. The polymer of claim 1 , wherein the polymer is a polyurethane foam, a wood binder, or a combination thereof.
6. The polymer of claim 1 , wherein the formulation further comprises a phosphorus-containing flame retardant, a diluent, a catalyst, or combinations thereof.
7. The polymer of claim 1 , wherein the polyisocyanate is a blocked isocyanate.
8. The polymer of claim 1 , wherein the polyisocyanate comprises a diisocyanate.
9. An article prepared from the polymer of claim 1 .
10. A process comprising:
forming a reaction mixture comprising:
a polyisocyanate; and
an isocyanate-reactive compound comprising at least one alkoxylated triazine-arylhydroxy-aldehyde condensate; and
curing the reaction mixture to form a polymer.
11. The process of claim 10 , further comprising applying the polymer to a substrate.
12. The process of claim 10 , wherein the substrate comprises an inorganic material or an organic material.
13. The process of claim 10 , wherein the reaction mixture is free of a catalyst, free of a fire retardant, free of Mannich polyols, or combinations thereof.
14. The process of claim 10 , wherein the reaction mixture further comprises a phosphorus-containing flame retardant, a diluent, a catalyst, or combinations thereof.
