Abstract

In one aspect, an example method includes (i) accessing, by a computing system, data associated with a program schedule for a video program; (ii) based on the accessed data, selecting, by the computing system, a social media (SM) content item; (iii) providing, by the computing system, a user interface that (i) outputs the selected SM content item, and facilitates modifying the program schedule such that the program schedule refers to the selected SM content item; (iv) based on the modified program schedule, generating, by the computing system, video content that includes the selected SM content item; and (v) transmitting, by the computing system, to another computing system, the generated video content for presentation of the generated video content on the other computing system.

Claims (53)

1. A method for use in connection with a computing system comprising a video-production system (VPS) configured to facilitate production of a video program, the method comprising:

accessing, by the computing system, data associated with a program schedule for the video program, wherein the program schedule is an outline of the video program and includes a plurality of records, each record corresponding to a respective portion of the video program, wherein the VPS is configured to process the plurality of records, and wherein processing a record of the plurality of records comprises performing one or more operations corresponding to the respective portion of the video program;

based on the accessed data, selecting, by the computing system, a social media (SM) content item;

providing, by the computing system, a user interface that (i) outputs the selected SM content item, and (ii) facilitates modifying the program schedule such that the program schedule refers to the selected SM content item;

based on the modified program schedule, generating, by the computing system, a video program that includes the selected SM content item; and

transmitting, by the computing system, to an end-user device, the generated video program for presentation of the generated video program on the end-user device.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the computing system further comprises a video-broadcast system (VBS).

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the accessed data comprises data included in the program schedule.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the accessed data comprises data selected from the group consisting of:

(i) text that is a description element of a record of the program schedule;

(ii) text scheduled to be provided to a teleprompter;

(iii) text that is scheduled to be used by a digital-video effect (DVE) system in connection with executing a DVE;

(iv) data identifying a location where a video content item was recorded; and

(v) data identifying a time when a video content item was recorded.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the accessed data relates to a person, place, event, or topic, wherein the SM content item includes data relating to a person, place, event, or topic, and wherein selecting the SM content item comprises selecting the SM content item based on the accessed data having a threshold extent of similarity with the data of the SM content item.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

obtaining, by the computing system, the selected SM content item from a SM platform, wherein generating a video program that includes the selected SM content item comprises generating a video program that includes the obtained SM content item.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein generating a video program that includes the selected SM content item comprises executing a digital video-effect (DVE).

8. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon program instructions that upon execution by a processor, cause performance of a set of acts comprising:

accessing, by a computing system, data associated with a program schedule for a video program, wherein the computing system comprises a video-production system (VPS) configured to facilitate production of the video program, wherein the program schedule is an outline of the video program and includes a plurality of records, each record corresponding to a respective portion of the video program, wherein the VPS is configured to process the plurality of records, and wherein processing a record of the plurality of records comprises performing one or more operations corresponding to the respective portion of the video program;

based on the accessed data, selecting, by the computing system, a social media (SM) content item;

providing, by the computing system, a user interface that (i) outputs the selected SM content item, and (ii) facilitates modifying the program schedule such that the program schedule refers to the selected SM content item;

based on the modified program schedule, generating, by the computing system, a video program that includes the selected SM content item; and

transmitting, by the computing system, to an end-user device, the generated video program for presentation of the generated video program on the end-user device.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the computing system further comprises a video-broadcast system (VBS).

10. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the accessed data comprises data included in the program schedule.

11. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the accessed data comprises data selected from the group consisting of:

(i) text that is a description element of a record of the program schedule;

(ii) text scheduled to be provided to a teleprompter;

(iii) text that is scheduled to be used by a digital-video effect (DVE) system in connection with executing a DVE;

(iv) data identifying a location where a video content item was recorded; and

(v) data identifying a time when a video content item was recorded.

12. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the accessed data relates to a person, place, event, or topic, wherein the SM content item includes data relating to a person, place, event, or topic, and wherein selecting the SM content item comprises selecting the SM content item based on the accessed data having a threshold extent of similarity with the data of the SM content item.

13. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , the set of acts further comprising:

obtaining, by the computing system, the selected SM content item from a SM platform, wherein generating a video program that includes the selected SM content item comprises generating a video program that includes the obtained SM content item.

14. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein generating a video program that includes the selected SM content item comprises executing a digital video-effect (DVE).

15. A computing system configured for performing a set of acts, wherein the computing system comprises a video-production system (VPS) configured to facilitate production of a video program, and wherein the set of acts comprises:

accessing, by the computing system, data associated with a program schedule for the video program, wherein the program schedule is an outline of the video program and includes a plurality of records, each record corresponding to a respective portion of the video program, wherein the VPS is configured to process the plurality of records, and wherein processing a record of the plurality of records comprises performing one or more operations corresponding to the respective portion of the video program;

based on the accessed data, selecting, by the computing system, a social media (SM) content item;

providing, by the computing system, a user interface that (i) outputs the selected SM content item, and (ii) facilitates modifying the program schedule such that the program schedule refers to the selected SM content item;
