BLACKJACK GAMES AND GAMING SYSTEM HAVING SIDE BET FEATURE
In a method of playing and presenting a game, such as at a gaming table or an electronic gaming device, a player places a game wager to play a blackjack game. The player may also place an optional bonus bet. The blackjack game is presented by dealing at least an initial player hand of two cards and an initial dealer hand of two cards. If the player places the optional bonus bet, a determination is made whether the bonus bet is winning, wherein the bonus bet is winning if a bonus winning outcome has been received relative to the initial player hand and/or initial dealer hand. A bonus bet award is awarded for a winning bonus bet and a blackjack game award is preferably awarded if the player receives a winning blackjack game outcome
1 . A method of presenting a game having a jackpot award opportunity, comprising the steps of:
providing a gaming table having a playing surface and a game layout;
receiving, via at least one input device of said gaming table, player input of a game wager;
receiving, via said least one input device of said gaming table, player input of an optional bonus bet;
presenting a blackjack wagering game at said gaming table utilizing one or more decks of physical playing cards, comprising dealing at least an initial player hand of two cards and an initial dealer hand of two cards;
determining if a bonus bet winning outcome has occurred, wherein said bonus bet winning outcome comprises said initial player hand comprising a blackjack hand;
awarding a bonus bet award if a bonus bet winning outcome has occurred;
determining an outcome of said blackjack wagering game; and
awarding a base game award to said player when said player receive a winning outcome of said blackjack wagering game.
2 . The method in accordance with claim 1 wherein said bonus bet winning outcome further comprises both said initial player hand and said initial dealer hand comprising a blackjack hand.
3 . The method in accordance with claim 2 wherein said bonus bet winning outcome comprises said initial player hand comprising two Aces and an upcard of said initial dealer hand comprising an Ace.
4 . The method in accordance with claim 2 wherein said initial player hand and said initial dealer hand comprise a blackjack of the same suit.

7 . The method in accordance with claim 1 wherein said step of determining if a bonus bet winning outcome has occurred occurs after said dealing of said initial player hand of two cards and said initial dealer hand of two cards, and further comprising completing said blackjack wagering game after said step of determining if a bonus winning outcome has occurred.
8 . The method in accordance with claim 7 wherein said step of completing said blackjack wagering game comprises dealing one or more additional cards to said initial player hand and/or said initial dealer hand to form a final player hand and a final dealer hand.
9 . The method in accordance with claim 8 wherein said step of determining said outcome of said blackjack wagering game comprises determining an outcome of said blackjack wagering game based upon said final player hand and said final dealer hand.
10 . The method in accordance with claim 1 wherein game layout defines a game wager area and a bonus bet area and said step of receiving, via at least one input device of said gaming table, player input of a game wager comprises detecting a wager placed at said game wager area and said step of receiving, via said least one input device of said gaming table, player input of an optional bonus bet comprises detecting a bonus bet placed at said bonus bet area.
11 . The method in accordance with claim 10 wherein said at least one chip sensor is located at said game wager area and said bonus bet area.
12 . The method in accordance with claim 1 wherein said game table further comprises a bonus bet award display and further comprising the step of displaying current bonus bet awards associated with winning bonus bets.
13 . An electronic gaming device comprising:
a monetary funds accepting mechanism for accepting monetary funds in creating a player credit balance;
at least one electronic display device;
at least one player input receiving device;
a memory device;
a controller; and
machine-readable code stored in said memory device and executable by said controller to cause said controller to accept input from said player via said at least one player input device of a game wager from said player credit balance;
machine-readable code stored in said memory device and executable by said controller to cause said controller to accept input from said player via said at least one player input device of a bonus bet from said player credit balance machine-readable code stored in said memory device and executable by said controller to cause said controller to present a blackjack wagering game comprising displaying via said at least one electronic display device at least an initial player hand of two cards and an initial dealer hand of two cards;
machine-readable code stored in said memory device and executable by said controller to cause said controller to determine if a bonus bet winning outcome has occurred, wherein said bonus bet winning outcome comprises said initial player hand comprising a blackjack hand;
machine-readable code stored in said memory device and executable by said controller to cause said controller to award a bonus bet award if a bonus bet winning outcome has occurred;
machine-readable code stored in said memory device and executable by said controller to cause said controller to determine an outcome of said blackjack wagering game; and
machine-readable code stored in said memory device and executable by said controller to cause said controller to award a base game award to said player when said player receive a winning outcome of said blackjack wagering game.
14 . The electronic gaming device of claim 13 wherein said bonus bet winning outcome further comprises both said initial player hand and said initial dealer hand comprising a blackjack hand.
15 . The electronic gaming device in accordance with claim 14 wherein said bonus bet winning outcome comprises said initial player hand comprising two Aces and an upcard of said initial dealer hand comprising an Ace.
16 . The electronic gaming device in accordance with claim 14 wherein said initial player hand and said initial dealer hand comprise a blackjack of the same suit.
