1. A method of operating an assembly, comprising:

connecting a cartridge member to a handpiece, wherein the cartridge member is connected to an irrigation tube;

connecting a first instrument assembly to the handpiece and making a first connection to the irrigation tube with the cartridge member;

maintaining the cartridge member connected to the handpiece while removing the first instrument assembly;

after removing the first instrument assembly, connecting a second instrument assembly to the handpiece while maintaining the cartridge member connected to the handpiece and making a second connection to the irrigation tube with the cartridge member; and

wherein connecting the cartridge member to the handpiece includes connecting a power source, an irrigation source, and a vacuum source;

wherein the cartridge member includes a connection to the power source, the irrigation source, and the vacuum source.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

irrigating a work site from an irrigation source through the cartridge member and at least one of the first instrument assembly or the second instrument assembly.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

irrigating a work site from an irrigation source through the cartridge member and both of the first instrument assembly or the second instrument assembly;

wherein irrigation of the worksite occurs through the first instrument assembly then the second instrument assembly.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

performing a procedure with both the first instrument assembly then the second instrument assembly;

after performing the procedure with both the first instrument assembly then the second instrument assembly disconnecting the cartridge member form the handpiece.

5. The method of claim 4 , further comprising:

discarding the cartridge member after disconnecting the cartridge member from the handpiece.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

performing a procedure with both the first instrument assembly then the second instrument assembly while irrigating a worksite through both the first instrument assembly then the second instrument assembly and only the cartridge member.

7. A method of operating an assembly, comprising:

connecting a cartridge member to a handpiece, wherein the cartridge member is connected to an irrigation tube;

connecting a first instrument assembly to the handpiece and making a first connection to the irrigation tube with the cartridge member;

maintaining the cartridge member connected to the handpiece while removing the first instrument assembly;

after removing the first instrument assembly, connecting a second instrument assembly to the handpiece while maintaining the cartridge member connected to the handpiece and making a second connection to the irrigation tube with the cartridge member; and

receiving a signal at an antenna within the cartridge member from an identification member with at least one of the first instrument assembly or the second instrument assembly.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the signal provides an identification of the specific first instrument assembly or second instrument assembly.

9. The method of claim 7 , wherein the signal includes information regarding a useful life of the at least one of the first instrument assembly or the second instrument assembly.

10. A method of operating an assembly, comprising:

connecting a cartridge member to a handpiece, wherein the cartridge member is connected to an irrigation tube;

connecting a first instrument assembly to the handpiece and making a first connection to the irrigation tube with the cartridge member;

maintaining the cartridge member connected to the handpiece while removing the first instrument assembly;

after removing the first instrument assembly, connecting a second instrument assembly to the handpiece while maintaining the cartridge member connected to the handpiece and making a second connection to the irrigation tube with the cartridge member; and

receiving a signal from a control member on the cartridge member to change an operation of at least one of a motor, a flow from an irrigation source, or combinations thereof.

11. A method of operating an assembly, comprising:

connecting a cartridge member to a handpiece, wherein the cartridge member is connected to an irrigation tube;

connecting a first instrument assembly to the handpiece and making a first connection to the irrigation tube with the cartridge member;

maintaining the cartridge member connected to the handpiece while removing the first instrument assembly;

after removing the first instrument assembly, connecting a second instrument assembly to the handpiece while maintaining the cartridge member connected to the handpiece and making a second connection to the irrigation tube with the cartridge member; and

providing an output from an indicator on the cartridge member to indicate a current operation of at least one of a motor, a flow from an irrigation source, or combinations thereof.

12. A method of operating a tool assembly, comprising:

connecting a cartridge member to a handpiece, wherein the cartridge member includes a first line and a second line;

connecting a first instrument assembly to the handpiece and making a first connection to the first line and a second connection to the second line;

maintaining the cartridge member connected to the handpiece while removing the first instrument assembly;

after removing the first instrument assembly, connecting a second instrument assembly to the handpiece while maintaining the cartridge member connected to the handpiece;

making a third connection to the first line and a fourth connection to the second line; and

wherein connecting the cartridge member to the handpiece includes connecting a power source, an irrigation source, and a vacuum source.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein making a first connection and making a third connection are making an irrigation supply connection.

14. The method of claim 12 , further comprising:

performing a procedure with both the first instrument assembly and then the second instrument assembly while irrigating a worksite through both the first instrument assembly and then the second instrument assembly through only the cartridge member.

15. A method of operating a tool assembly, comprising:

connecting a cartridge member to a handpiece, wherein the cartridge member includes a first line and a second line;

connecting a first instrument assembly to the handpiece and making a first connection to the first line and a second connection to the second line;

maintaining the cartridge member connected to the handpiece while removing the first instrument assembly;

after removing the first instrument assembly, connecting a second instrument assembly to the handpiece while maintaining the cartridge member connected to the handpiece;

making a third connection to the first line and a fourth connection to the second line; and

wherein making the second connection and making the fourth connection includes connecting a tracking device with a navigation system.

16. A method of operating a tool assembly, comprising:

connecting a cartridge member to a handpiece, wherein the cartridge member includes a first line and a second line;
