Abstract

Example techniques involve a calibration state variable. An example implementation receives, via a network interface, an indication that the first playback device is calibrated. Based on receiving the indication that the first playback device is calibrated, the example implementation updates a calibration state variable to indicate that the first playback device is calibrated, wherein the calibration state variable is stored in the data storage. The example implementation sends, via the network interface, an indication of the updated calibration state variable to a second device.

Claims (51)

1. Tangible non-transitory computer-readable media having stored thereon instructions executable by a control device of a media playback system to cause the control device to perform operations comprising:

receiving, via a network interface of the control device, an indication that a calibration state of a playback device of the media playback system is calibrated, wherein the media playback system comprises a zone name assigned to the playback device;

based the received indication that the calibration state of the playback device is calibrated, causing a graphical user interface of the control device to indicate that the playback device is calibrated;

receiving an input comprising a command to update the zone name assigned to the playback device; and

based on the received input, sending, via the network interface, an instruction to cause the playback device to update the calibration state of the playback device to non-calibrated.

2. The tangible non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:

based on the received input, causing the graphical user interface to indicate that the playback device is non-calibrated.

3. The tangible non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:

based on the received input, displaying, via the graphical user interface, a prompt requesting an indication of whether the playback device has been relocated; and

detecting selection of a control that indicates that the playback device has been relocated.

4. The tangible non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:

based on the received input, displaying, via the graphical user interface, a selectable control that initiates calibration of the playback device.

5. The tangible non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 1 , wherein the playback device is a first playback device and the zone name is a first zone name, wherein the media playback system further comprises a second zone name assigned to a second playback device, and wherein the command to update the first zone name assigned to the first playback device comprises a command for the first playback device to join a zone group including the second playback device such that the first playback device is assigned the second zone name.

6. The tangible non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 5 , wherein the operations further comprise:

based on the received input, sending, via the network interface, an instruction to cause the second playback device to update a calibration state of the second playback device to non-calibrated.

7. The tangible non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 1 , wherein the playback device is a first playback device and the zone name is a first zone name, wherein the first playback device is part of a zone group including at least a second playback device, and wherein the command to update the first zone name assigned to the first playback device comprises a command for the first playback device to leave the zone group such that the first playback device is assigned a second zone name other than the first zone name.

8. The tangible non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 7 , wherein the operations further comprise:

based on the received input, sending, via the network interface, an instruction to cause the second playback device to update a calibration state of the second playback device to non-calibrated.

9. A method performed by a control device of a media playback system, the method comprising:

receiving, via a network interface of the control device, an indication that a calibration state of a playback device of the media playback system is calibrated, wherein the media playback system comprises a zone name assigned to the playback device;

based the received indication that the calibration state of the playback device is calibrated, causing a graphical user interface of the control device to indicate that the playback device is calibrated;

receiving an input comprising a command to update the zone name assigned to the playback device; and

based on the received input, sending, via the network interface, an instruction to cause the playback device to update the calibration state of the playback device to non-calibrated.

10. The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

based on the received input, causing the graphical user interface to indicate that the playback device is non-calibrated.

11. The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

based on the received input, displaying, via the graphical user interface, a prompt requesting an indication of whether the playback device has been relocated; and

detecting selection of a control that indicates that the playback device has been relocated.

12. The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

based on the received input, displaying, via the graphical user interface, a selectable control that initiates calibration of the playback device.

13. The method of claim 9 , wherein the playback device is a first playback device and the zone name is a first zone name, wherein the media playback system further comprises a second zone name assigned to a second playback device, and wherein the command to update the first zone name assigned to the first playback device comprises a command for the first playback device to join a zone group including the second playback device such that the first playback device is assigned the second zone name.

14. The method of claim 13 , further comprising:

based on the received input, sending, via the network interface, an instruction to cause the second playback device to update a calibration state of the second playback device to non-calibrated.

15. The method of claim 9 , wherein the playback device is a first playback device and the zone name is a first zone name, wherein the first playback device is part of a zone group including at least a second playback device, and wherein the command to update the first zone name assigned to the first playback device comprises a command for the first playback device to leave the zone group such that the first playback device is assigned a second zone name other than the first zone name.

16. The method of claim 15 , further comprising:

based on the received input, sending, via the network interface, an instruction to cause the second playback device to update a calibration state of the second playback device to non-calibrated.

17. A control device of a media playback system, the control device comprising:

a network interface;

a graphical user interface;

one or more processors; and

a data storage having stored therein instructions executable by the one or more processors to cause the control device to perform operations comprising:

receiving, via the network interface, an indication that a calibration state of a playback device of the media playback system is calibrated, wherein the media playback system comprises a zone name assigned to the playback device;

based the received indication that the calibration state of the playback device is calibrated, causing the graphical user interface to indicate that the playback device is calibrated;

receiving an input comprising a command to update the zone name assigned to the playback device; and

based on the received input, sending, via the network interface, an instruction to cause the playback device to update the calibration state of the playback device to non-calibrated.

18. The control device of claim 17 , wherein the operations further comprise:

based on the received input, displaying, via the graphical user interface, a prompt requesting an indication of whether the playback device has been relocated; and

detecting selection of a control that indicates that the playback device has been relocated.

19. The control device of claim 17 , wherein the operations further comprise:

based on the received input, displaying, via the graphical user interface, a selectable control that initiates calibration of the playback device.

20. The control device of claim 17 , wherein the playback device is a first playback device and the zone name is a first zone name, wherein the media playback system further comprises a second zone name assigned to a second playback device, and wherein the command to update the first zone name assigned to the first playback device comprises a command for the first playback device to join a zone group including the second playback device such that the first playback device is assigned the second zone name.
