Abstract

A transmission system includes a power take-off for driving an implement and a hydrostatic unit for transmitting power from the engine to the power take-off. The hydrostatic unit includes a first hydraulic power unit having a first connection line and a second connection line, and a second hydraulic power unit having a first connection line and a second connection line. The hydrostatic unit also includes a valve for connecting the first hydraulic power unit and the second hydraulic power unit, the valve being positionable at least in a first position a first position and in a second position.

Claims (23)

1. A transmission system for transmitting power generated by an engine of a vehicle, comprising a power take-off for driving an implement and a hydrostatic unit for transmitting power from the engine to the power take-off, wherein the hydrostatic unit comprises:

a first hydraulic power unit having a first connection line and a second connection line;

a second hydraulic power unit having a first connection line and a second connection line;

a valve for connecting the first hydraulic power unit and the second hydraulic power unit, the valve being positionable at least in a first position and in a second position;

wherein:

in said first position, the first connection line and the second connection line of the first hydraulic power unit are connected respectively to the first connection line and to the second connection line of the second hydraulic power unit, and

in said second position, the first connection line and the second connection line of the first hydraulic power unit are connected respectively to the second connection line and to the first connection line of the second hydraulic power unit, and

wherein the valve is controlled according to a cycle of hysteresis when the valve is required to switch between the first position and the second position at a preset value of an engine speed.

2. The transmission system according to claim 1 , wherein:

if the valve is required to pass from the first position to the second position at said preset value of the engine speed, the valve is switched to the second position when the engine speed is greater than said preset value; and

if the valve is required to pass from the second position to the first position at said preset value of the engine speed, the valve is switched to the first position when the engine is speed lower than said preset value.

3. The transmission system according to claim 1 , wherein the first hydraulic power unit is a hydraulic pump and the second hydraulic power unit is a hydraulic motor.

4. The transmission system according to claim 3 , wherein the hydraulic pump has a displacement (V P ) which is variable between zero and a maximum positive value, in order to control speed (n PTO ) at the power take-off independently of the engine speed.

5. The transmission system according to claim 4 , wherein displacement (V P ) of the hydraulic pump is zero at said preset value of the engine speed.

6. The transmission system according to claim 1 , wherein said preset value of the engine speed corresponds to a condition of peak power transmitted by the engine.

7. The transmission system according to claim 4 , wherein the hydraulic pump is so controlled as to set displacement (V P ) of the hydraulic pump to zero at a first value of the engine speed, when displacement (V P ) of the hydraulic pump drops below a preset minimum value (V Pmin ).

The transmission system according to claim 7 , wherein the hydraulic pump is so controlled that, when it is requested that displacement (V P ) of the hydraulic pump increases from zero to a positive value, displacement (V P ) of the hydraulic pump is kept to zero until a second value of the engine speed is reached, at which a preset minimum displacement (V Pmin ) is required.

9. The transmission system according to claim 8 , wherein said preset minimum value (V Pmin ) is equal to said preset minimum displacement (V Pmin ).

10. The transmission system according to claim 8 , wherein said second value of the engine speed is greater than said first value of the engine speed, the cycle of hysteresis of the valve being provided in a range of engine speeds comprised between said first value and said second value.

The transmission system according to claim 4 , wherein the hydraulic pump is so controlled as to modify displacement (V P ) of the hydraulic pump, and consequently modify speed (n PTO ) at the power take-off, thereby creating different speed profiles at the power take-off depending on a load acting on the power take-off.

12. The transmission system according to claim 4 , wherein the hydraulic pump is so controlled as to vary displacement (V P ) of the hydraulic pump for obtaining a desired speed (n PTO ) at the power take-off, as a function of the engine speed.

13. The transmission system according to claim 12 , wherein the hydraulic pump is so controlled as to keep speed (n PTO ) at the power take-off substantially constant thereby allowing the engine speed to decrease, when a load is acting on the power take-off.

14. The transmission system according to claim 12 , wherein the hydraulic pump is so controlled as to keep the engine speed substantially constant thereby allowing speed (n PTO ) at the power take-off to decrease, when a load is acting on the power take-off.
