Binder composition
The invention relates to an aqueous binder composition for mineral fibers comprising at least one hydrocolloid.
1 . A mineral wool product, wherein the product comprises mineral fibers bonded by a cured aqueous binder composition, the binder composition before curing comprising at least two hydrocolloids, at least a first hydrocolloid comprising a protein of animal origin and at least a second protein selected from the group consisting of alginate, agar agar, carrageenan, gellan gum, guar gum, gum arabic, locust bean gum, xanthan gum, cellulose derivatives, arabinoxylan, curdlan, β-glucan, and further comprising at least one tannin selected from condensed tannins, hydrolyzable tannins, gallotannins, ellagitannins, complex tannins, tannins originating from one or more of oak, chestnut, staghorn sumac, fringe cups, and wherein the at least one protein of animal origin and the at least one tannin are crosslinked in the cured binder composition to form a network.
2 . The mineral wool product of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the at least two hydrocolloids is a polyelectrolytic hydrocolloid.
