Abstract

A method for network communications from a first device to a second device includes communicating data from the first device to the second device by spawning a first virtual machine for a first network connection that virtualizes network capabilities of the electronic device, and using the virtualized network capabilities of the first virtual machine, transmitting a plurality of packets for communication to a first network address and port combination associated with the second device. The method further includes repeatedly changing to a respective another network address and port combination by repeatedly spawning a respective another virtual machine for a respective another network connection that virtualizes network capabilities of the electronic device, and using the virtualized network capabilities of the spawned respective another virtual machine, transmitting a plurality of packets for communication to the respective another network address and port combination associated with the second device.

35 . A computerized system useful for implementing a cloud-based multipath routing protocol to an Internet endpoint comprising:

an edge node that provides an entry point into a network, and wherein the network comprises a set of resources to be reliably accessed; and

a deflect instantiated in a public-cloud computing platform, wherein the deflect joins a same virtual routing and forwarding table as the edge node, wherein the deflect is configured to virtualize network capabilities and provide a plurality of virtual network connections, and wherein the deflect is configured to utilize virtual network connections to receive and forward packets.

36 . The computerized system of claim 35 , wherein the network comprises an enterprise's core network or a service-provider's core network.

37 . The computerized system of claim 35 , wherein the edge node comprises a virtual machine.

38 . The computerized system of claim 35 , wherein the set of resources to be reliably accessed comprises a server system.

39 . A computerized method useful for implementing a cloud-based multipath routing protocol to an Internet endpoint comprising:

providing, with an edge node, an entry point into a network, and wherein the network comprises a set of resources to be reliably accessed; and

instantiating a deflect in a public-cloud computing platform, wherein the deflect joins a same virtual routing and forwarding table as the edge node, wherein the deflect is configured to virtualize network capabilities and provide a plurality of virtual network connections, and wherein the deflect is configured to utilize virtual network connections to receive and forward packets.

40 . The computerized method of claim 39 , wherein the network comprises an enterprise's core network or a service-provider's core network.

41 . The computerized method of claim 39 , wherein the edge node comprises a virtual machine.

42 . The computerized method of claim 39 , wherein the set of resources that are reliably accessed comprises a server system.

43 . A method comprising:

receiving a source identifier and a destination identifier;

retrieving a set of network data from a computing device that is implementing a set of logical forwarding elements of a logical network;

identifying a path in the logical network by traversing the logical network according to the retrieved set of network data, wherein said traversing starts at an initial network node that is identified by the source identifier and continues through a set of next-hop network nodes that are each identified based on the destination identifier, each network node associated with a logical forwarding element implemented by the computing device; and

reporting the set of traversed network nodes.

44 . The method of claim 43 , wherein the computing device is a first computing device, wherein a second computing device retrieves the set of network data, identifies the path in the logical network based on the retrieved set of network data, and reports the set of traversed network nodes.

45 . The method of claim 43 , wherein at least some of the traversed network nodes are logical ports of logical forwarding elements.

46 . The method of claim 43 , wherein the set of network data comprises a routing table used by a logical forwarding element.

47 . The method of claim 43 , wherein the set of network data comprises a forwarding table used by a logical forwarding element in the computing device, wherein at least one next-hop network node in the path is identified by using the forwarding table for mapping an address to a logical port.

48 . A computing device comprising a set of processing units; and a non-transitory machine readable medium storing program comprising sets of instructions for:

receiving troubleshooting request comprising a source identifier and a destination identifier;

retrieving a set of network data from a virtual network forwarding engine that is implementing a set of logical forwarding elements of a logical network;

identifying a path in the logical network by traversing the logical network according to the retrieved set of network data, wherein said traversing starts at an initial network node that is identified by the source identifier and continues through a set of next-hop network nodes that are each identified based on the destination identifier, each network node associated with a logical forwarding element implemented by the computing device; and

reporting the set of traversed network nodes.

49 . The computing device of claim 48 , wherein the set of information comprises a routing table used by the logical forwarding element.

50 . The computing device of claim 48 , wherein the destination identifier is a destination address of a packet.
