Abstract

A display device having a display region and a peripheral region in contact with the display region above a substrate is provided. The display region has a plurality of pixels each including a transistor, an insulating film above the transistor, a pixel electrode arranged above the insulating film and electrically connected to the transistor, and a common electrode above the insulating film, a video signal line and a gate signal line electrically connected to the transistor, and liquid crystal layer above the plurality of pixels. The peripheral region has a terminal electrically connected to the video signal line, a wiring arranged parallel to the gate wiring between the display region and the terminal, and a plurality of first electrodes above the wiring. The insulating film covers the wiring, and the wiring is electrically connected to the plurality of first electrodes via an opening in the insulating film.

Claims (42)

1. A display device comprising:

a display region comprising a plurality of pixels each including a transistor, an insulating film above the transistor, a pixel electrode arranged above the insulating film and electrically connected to the transistor, and a common electrode above the insulating film; and

a peripheral region outside of the display region, the peripheral region including:

a plurality of first terminals arranged in a first direction;

a second terminal;

a third terminal; and

a first wiring connected to the second terminal and the third terminal,

wherein the first terminals are located between the second terminal and the third terminal in the first direction, and

the first wiring has a first part extending in the first direction between the display region and the first terminals, a second part connecting to the second terminal and the first part, and a third part connecting to the third terminal and the first part.

2. The display device of claim 1 , further comprising:

a flexible printed circuit board and the drive circuit controlling the plurality of pixels,

wherein the flexible printed circuit board is connected to the first terminals, the second terminal, and the third terminal,

the driver circuit is located between the first part of the first wiring and the first terminals, and

the first terminals and the driver circuit are surrounded by the first wiring.

3. The display device of claim 2 , wherein the first wiring is a low potential power line.

4. The display device of claim 3 , further comprising:

a first substrate;

a second substrate opposing the first substrate;

a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the first substrate and the second substrate, and

a sealant sealing the liquid crystal layer,

wherein the display region and the peripheral region are located on the first substrate,

a part of the sealant extends to the first direction between the first part of the first wiring and the driver circuit, and

the first part of the first wiring is between the sealant and the display region.

5. The display device of claim 4 , further comprising:

a second wiring extending in the first direction; and

a third wiring extending in the first direction,

wherein the first wiring is located between the second wiring and the third wiring, and

the second wiring and the third wiring are located between the sealant and the display region.

6. The display device of claim 5 , wherein

the insulating film covers the first to third wirings,

the insulating film has a first hole and a second hole which is apart from the first hole in the first direction, and

the first hole and the second hole overlap with the first wiring.

7. The display device of claim 6 , further comprising:

a first transparent electrode on the insulating film in the peripheral region; and

a second transparent electrode on the insulating film in the peripheral region,

wherein the second transparent electrode is apart from the first transparent electrode in the first direction,

the first transparent electrode is connected to the first wiring via the first hole, and

the second transparent electrode is connected to the first wiring via the second hole.

8. The display device of claim 7 , further comprising:

a fourth wiring on the insulating film,

wherein the fourth wiring extends in a second direction intersecting the first direction, and

the fourth wiring is located between the first transparent electrode and the second transparent electrode in the first direction.
