Award incentives for facilitating collaborative, social online education

1. In an Online Social Education System (OSES) server, a computer-implemented method for facilitating collaborative, online education via a computer network, the method comprising causing at least one processor to execute a plurality of instructions for:

generating a graphical user interface of an interactive wall for use by a student user (“student GUI”), said student GUI including a post posted by said student user on said interactive wall and a total student point value;

displaying said student GUI on at least a computer of said student;

detecting, by said OSES server, that said post is a first post by said student user on said interactive wall;

modifying said student GUI in order to update said total student point value to include a point value based upon said detecting;

displaying said student GUI on at least said student computer;

in response to said updating said total student point value, modifying a moderator graphical user interface used by a moderator user (“moderator GUI”) and any other moderator GUI of said interactive wall that includes said post such that said moderator GUI and said any other moderator GUIs do not include any optional point value associated with said post; and

displaying said moderator GUI on at least a computer of said moderator, wherein said moderator user and any other moderator user is not able to award points to said student user for said post after said modifying of said moderator GUI.

2. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein only said moderator user and said other moderator users are authorized to award points for said post.

3. A method as recited in claim 1 comprising further causing said at least one processor to execute a plurality of instructions for:

notifying said moderator user of said first post by said student user on said interactive wall.

4. A method as recited in claim 1 further comprising:

providing, by said OSES server, a notification to said moderator user that said first post by said student user has been posted on said interactive wall.

5. In an Online Social Education System (OSES) server, a computer-implemented method for facilitating collaborative, online education via a computer network, the method comprising causing at least one processor to execute a plurality of instructions for:

generating a graphical user interface of an interactive wall for use by a student user (“student GUI”), said student GUI including a post posted by said student user on said interactive wall and a total student point value;

displaying said student GUI on at least a computer of said student;

generating a moderator graphical user interface of said interactive wall for use by a moderator user (“moderator GUI”), said moderator GUI including said post as well as an optional point value associated with said post;

displaying said moderator GUI on at least a computer of said moderator;

receiving an input at said OSES server from said moderator computer indicating a selection of said optional point value on said moderator GUI of said moderator computer;

modifying said student GUI in order to update said total student point value to include said optional point value;

displaying said modified student GUI on at least said student computer;

in response to said updating said total student point value, modifying said moderator GUI and any other moderator GUI of said interactive wall that includes said post in order remove said optional point value from said post; and

displaying said modified moderator GUI on at least said moderator computer, wherein said moderator user and any other moderator user is not able to award points to said student user for said post after said modification of said moderator GUI.

6. A method as recited in claim 5 wherein only said moderator user and said other moderator users are authorized to award points for said post.

7. A method as recited in claim 5 wherein said optional point value on said moderator GUI is a numerical value.

8. A method as recited in claim 5 wherein said moderator GUI includes a plurality of numerical optional point values associated with said post.

9. A method as recited in claim 5 further comprising:

providing, by said OSES server, a notification to said moderator user that said post by said student user has been posted on said interactive wall.
