AIRCRAFT STORAGE BIN ASSEMBLY WITH UPPER AND LOWER BINS
An aircraft overhead storage bin assembly that includes a housing, a door pivotably attached to the housing and a bucket pivotably connected to the housing that cooperates with the housing to define a bin interior. The housing includes a front, a back, and an upper storage section defined therein. The upper storage section includes an upper storage section opening that communicates the upper storage section with an exterior of the housing. The door pivotably attached to the housing and is movable between an open and a closed position. In the closed position the door closes the upper storage section opening. The bucket is positioned below the upper storage section and is pivotable with respect to the housing between an open position and a closed position.
1 . An aircraft overhead storage bin assembly comprising:
a housing that includes a front, a back, and an upper storage section defined therein, wherein the upper storage section includes an upper storage section opening that communicates the upper storage section with an exterior of the housing,
a door pivotably attached to the housing, wherein the door is movable between an open and a closed position, and wherein in the closed position the door closes the upper storage section opening,
a bucket pivotably connected to the housing that cooperates with the housing to define a bin interior, wherein the bucket is positioned below the upper storage section, and wherein the bucket is pivotable with respect to the housing between an open position and a closed position.
2 . The aircraft overhead storage bin assembly of claim 1 wherein the upper storage section opening opens to the front of the housing, and wherein the bucket opens to the front or the back of the housing.
3 . The aircraft overhead storage bin assembly 2 wherein the bucket opens to the front of the housing.
4 . The aircraft overhead storage bin assembly 2 wherein the bucket opens to the back of the housing.

The aircraft overhead storage bin assembly of claim 1 wherein the housing comprises a second upper storage section defined therein, wherein the second upper storage section includes a second upper storage section opening that communicates the second upper storage section with the exterior of the housing,
a second door pivotably attached to the housing, wherein second the door is movable between an open and a closed position, and wherein in the closed position the second door closes the second upper storage section opening,
a second bucket pivotably connected to the housing that cooperates with the housing to define a bin interior and positioned below the second upper storage section, wherein the second bucket is pivotable with respect to the housing between an open position and a closed position.
6 . The aircraft overhead storage bin assembly of claim 1 wherein the housing includes an oxygen compartment defined between the bucket and the back of the housing.
7 . The aircraft overhead storage bin assembly of claim 6 wherein the oxygen compartment is positioned below the upper storage section.
8 . An aircraft seating assembly comprising:
an overhead storage bin assembly that includes
a housing having an upper storage section defined therein, wherein the upper storage section includes an upper storage section opening that communicates the upper storage section with an exterior of the housing, and wherein the housing has a front and a back,
a door pivotably attached to the housing, wherein the door is movable between an open and a closed position, wherein in the closed position the door closes the upper storage section opening, and wherein the upper storage section opening opens to the front of the housing,
a bucket pivotably connected to the housing that cooperates with the housing to define a bin interior, wherein the bucket is positioned below the upper storage section, wherein the bucket is pivotable with respect to the housing between an open position and a closed position, and wherein the bucket opens to the front or the back of the housing
a seat positioned below the overhead storage bin assembly, wherein the seat faces the same direction as the front of the housing, and wherein the overhead storage bin assembly is configured such that a person with a height above the 5th percentile seated in the seat can move the bucket from the closed position to the open position while seated.
9 . The aircraft seating assembly of claim 8 wherein the overhead storage bin assembly includes at least a first post configured to be secured to a floor of the aircraft, wherein the housing is supported by the first post.
10 . The aircraft seating assembly of claim 8 wherein the housing has a front and a back, wherein the upper storage section opening opens to the front of the housing, and wherein the bucket opens to the front or the back of the housing.
11 . The aircraft seating assembly of claim 10 wherein the bucket opens to the front of the housing.
12 . The aircraft seating assembly of claim 10 wherein the bucket opens to the back of the housing.
