Abstract

Concepts related to embolic delivery, including embolic detachment systems and an embolic pusher retention mechanism/system are discussed.

Claims (34)

1. An occlusive delivery device for delivering an occlusive device comprising:

a delivery pusher configured to deliver the occlusive device;

the occlusive device comprising one or more wires and having a collapsed configuration when within a delivery catheter and an expanded configuration when not within the delivery catheter;

a connection interface linked to both the delivery pusher and the occlusive device, the connection interface facilitating operative connection between the delivery pusher and the occlusive device so that the delivery pusher pushes the occlusive device;

the occlusive device having a plurality of proximal end loops, the plurality of proximal end loops wrapped around the connection interface;

wherein the one or more wires of the occlusive device contact the connection interface but are not attached to the connection interface, such that the one or more wires of the occlusive device can move independently relative to the connection interface; and

the connection interface comprises a plurality of holes, and the one or more wires of the occlusive device pass through two or more of the plurality of holes.

2. The occlusive delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the occlusive device is an intrasaccular device comprising a mesh of wires.

3. The occlusive delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the connection interface is a ring.

4. The occlusive delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the connection interface has one or more cut-out regions to allow the connection interface to flex.

5. The occlusive delivery device of claim 1 , further comprising a retention structure connected to both the connection interface and the occlusive device.

6. The occlusive delivery device of claim 5 wherein the retention structure is one or more coils.

7. An occlusive delivery device for delivering an occlusive device comprising:

a delivery pusher configured to deliver the occlusive device;

the occlusive device comprising one or more wires and having a collapsed configuration when within a delivery catheter and an expanded configuration when not within the delivery catheter;

a connection interface between the delivery pusher and the occlusive device, the connection interface facilitating operative connection between the delivery pusher and the occlusive device so that the delivery pusher pushes the occlusive device;

wherein the one or more wires of the occlusive device are linked to the connection interface but are not attached to the connection interface, such that the one or more wires of the occlusive device can move independently relative to the connection interface and the connection interface remains with the occlusive device after the occlusive device is detached from the delivery pusher; and

the connection interface comprises a plurality of holes, and the one or more wires of the occlusive device pass through two or more of the plurality of holes.

8. The occlusive delivery device of claim 7 , further comprising a retention structure connected to both the connection interface and the occlusive device.

9. The occlusive delivery device of claim 8 , wherein the retention structure is one or more coils.

10. The occlusive delivery device of claim 8 , wherein the retention structure is one or more rotatable bands.

11. The occlusive delivery device of claim 10 , wherein the one or more rotatable bands contain one or more holes accommodating the one or more wires of the occlusive device.

12. The occlusive delivery device of claim 7 , wherein the one or more plurality of holes in the connection interface accommodate the proximal ends of the one or more wires of the occlusive device.

13. An occlusive delivery device for delivering an occlusive device comprising:

a delivery pusher configured to deliver the occlusive device;

the occlusive device comprising one or more wires and having a collapsed configuration when within a delivery catheter and an expanded configuration when not within the delivery catheter;

a connection interface linked to a distal portion of the delivery pusher, the connection interface facilitating operative connection between the delivery pusher and the occlusive device so that the delivery pusher pushes the occlusive device;

the connection interface forming a ring, the ring attached to the delivery pusher at a plurality of regions around the ring;

wherein the one or more wires of the occlusive device are operatively connected to the connection interface but are not attached to the connection interface, such that the one or more wires of the occlusive device can move independently relative to the connection interface;

the connection interface remains with the occlusive device after the occlusive device is detached from the delivery pusher; and

the connection interface comprises a plurality of holes, and the one or more wires of the occlusive device pass through two or more of the plurality of holes.

14. The occlusive delivery device of claim 13 , wherein the one or more wires of the occlusive device comprise a mesh of a plurality of wires.

15. The occlusive delivery device of claim 13 , wherein the occlusive device is an intrasaccular device for occluding an aneurysm.

16. The occlusive delivery device of claim 13 , wherein the occlusive device is an intrasaccular device for occluding a cerebral aneurysm.
