Abstract

A battery package includes a card, a cover attached to the card, a tray positioned between the card and the cover, batteries, and tabs. The cover includes an opening and a door. The door is movable between an open position to provide access to the opening and a closed position. The tray includes a plurality of receptacles in which are positioned the batteries. Each tab is removably attached to one of the batteries and is positioned between the cover and the battery. The tray is rotatable relative to the card and the cover about an axis of rotation to selectively align one of the receptacles with the opening in a battery removal position. With the door in the open position, the tab attached to the battery in the receptacle in the battery removal position is accessible through the opening from the front of the cover and the peripheral edge of the cover.

Claims (35)

1. A battery package, comprising:

a card;

a cover attached to the card, the cover including an opening and a door, wherein the door is movable between an open position to provide access to the opening and a closed position in which the door closes the opening;

a tray positioned between the card and the cover, the tray including a plurality of receptacles;

a plurality of batteries, each battery positioned within one of the plurality of receptacles; and

a plurality of tabs, each tab removably attached to one of the batteries, wherein each tab is positioned between the cover and the battery to which the tab is attached;

wherein the tray is rotatable relative to the card and the cover about an axis of rotation to selectively align one of the receptacles with the opening in a battery removal position; and

wherein with the door in the open position, the tab attached to the battery in the receptacle in the battery removal position is accessible through the opening from the front of the cover and the peripheral edge of the cover.

2. The battery package of claim 1 , wherein each tab includes a free end extending past the battery to which the tab is attached; and

wherein the free ends of the tabs attached to the batteries are depressed by the cover toward the card.

3. The battery package of claim 1 , wherein each tab includes a free end extending past the battery to which the tab is attached; and

wherein the free end of the tab attached to the battery in the receptacle in the battery removal position is depressed by the door toward the card when the door is in the closed position.

4. The battery package of claim 3 , wherein the free end of the tab attached to the battery in the receptacle in the battery removal position moves away from the card when the door moves from the closed position to the open position.

5. The battery package of claim 1 , wherein the cover comprises a dome-shaped body with a front portion, a circumferential flange, and an annular transition portion extending between the front portion and the flange; and

wherein the flange is attached to the card.

6. The battery package of claim 5 , wherein the transition portion of the cover includes a ledge and the upper surfaces of the tabs contact the bottom surface of the ledge.

7. The battery package of claim 1 , wherein the receptacles are spaced equidistantly from a rotational axis of the tray; and

wherein the tray and the card include a plurality of indexing features for indexing rotation of the tray to a plurality of predetermined positions.

8. The battery package of claim 1 , wherein a center line of the door is located between 135 degrees and 225 degrees relative to the axis of rotation.

9. The battery package of claim 8 , wherein the centerline of the door is located at 180 degrees relative to the axis of rotation.

10. The battery package of claim 1 , wherein each tab has a width of at least 9 millimeters.

11. The battery package of claim 1 , wherein the card comprises a first portion and a second portion separated by a perforation configured to detach the first portion from the second portion, and wherein the cover is attached to the second portion of the card.

12. The battery package of claim 11 , wherein the perforation is curved.

13. The battery package of claim 11 , wherein the perforation is located between the outer edge of the cover and the axis of rotation.

14. The battery package of claim 1 , further comprising:

a tamper evidence adhesive strip that extends across the door and is attached to the door and the portions of the cover adjacent the door.

15. A battery package, comprising:

a card including a first portion and a second portion separated by a perforation configured to detach the first portion from the second portion, wherein the perforation is curved, and wherein the first portion includes an opening configured to receive a display hanger;

a cover attached to the second portion of the card, the cover including an opening and a door, wherein the door is movable between an open position to provide access to the opening and a closed position in which the door closes the opening;

a tray positioned between the card and the cover, the tray including a plurality of receptacles;

a plurality of batteries, each battery positioned within one of the plurality of receptacles; and

a plurality of tabs, each tab removably attached to one of the batteries, wherein each tab is positioned between the cover and the battery to which the tab is attached;

wherein the tray is rotatable relative to the second portion of the card and the cover about an axis of rotation to selectively align one of the receptacles with the opening in a battery removal position; and

wherein with the door in the open position, the tab attached to the battery in the receptacle in the battery removal position is accessible through the opening.

16. The battery package of claim 15 , wherein the perforation is located between the outer edge of the cover and the axis of rotation.
