Abstract

An apparatus, methods and systems for data collection in an industrial environment are disclosed. A monitoring system can include a data collector coupled to a plurality of analog sensors to collect data, a data storage structured to store a plurality of data collection management plans comprising template data collection routines for collection of data, a data acquisition circuit structured to interpret a plurality of detection values from the collected data, and a data analysis circuit structured to analyze the collected data and select one of the plurality of data collection management plans, wherein the selected one of the plurality of data collection management plans is selected is at least in part based on a data analysis of received data from the plurality of analog sensors.

Claims (33)

1. A monitoring system for data collection in an industrial environment, the monitoring system comprising:

a data collector communicatively coupled to a plurality of input channels, wherein the plurality of input channels receives data from a plurality of analog sensors to form collected data;

a data storage structured to store a plurality of data collection management plans comprising template data collection routines for collection of data wherein the plurality of input channels receives data from a plurality of analog sensors;

a data acquisition circuit structured to interpret a plurality of detection values from the collected data, each of the plurality of detection values corresponding to at least one of the plurality of input channels; and

a data analysis circuit structured to analyze the collected data and select one of the plurality of data collection management plans, wherein the selected one of the plurality of data collection management plans is selected is at least in part based on a data analysis of received data from the plurality of analog sensors.

2. The monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the data acquisition circuit includes at least one delta-sigma analog-to-digital converter that is configured to increase input oversampling rates.

3. The monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the data analysis circuit alters the data collection by adjusting an auto-scaling value associated with data collection from one the plurality of input channels.

The monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the plurality of analog sensors is selectively operable between a first condition comprising a low impedance state wherein communication passes therethrough, and a second condition comprising a high impedance state wherein communication is prevented therethrough.

5. The monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the data analysis circuit provides for band-pass tracking associated with at least one of the plurality of analog sensors, and detects an anomalous condition in response to the band-pass tracking.

6. The monitoring system of claim 5 , wherein the data analysis circuit further selects one of the plurality of data collection management plans in response to the detected anomalous condition.

7. The monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the data storage is structured as a distributed data storage across a plurality of locations.

8. The monitoring system of claim 1 , further comprising a cloud data management service configured to store at least a portion of the collected data.

The monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of input channels comprises a first input connected to a corresponding first analog sensor, and a second input connected to a corresponding second analog sensor, wherein the first input and second input are switchable between a plurality of output channels comprising a first output and a second output in a multiplexed configuration with many inputs and many outputs.

10. A computer-implemented method for data collection in an industrial environment, the computer-implemented method comprising:

collecting data from a plurality of input channels communicatively coupled to a data collector, wherein the plurality of input channels receives data from a plurality of analog sensors to form collected data;

storing in a data storage a plurality of data collection management plans comprising optimized data collection routines for collection of data wherein the plurality of input channels receives data from a plurality of analog sensors;

interpreting a plurality of detection values from the collected data with a data acquisition circuit, each of the plurality of detection values corresponding to at least one of the plurality of input channels; and

analyzing the collected data and selecting one of the plurality of data collection management plans, wherein the selected one of the plurality of data collection management plans is selected is at least in part based on a data analysis of received data from the plurality of analog sensors.

The computer-implemented method of claim 10 , wherein at least one of the plurality of analog sensors is selectively operable between a first condition comprising a low impedance state wherein communication passes therethrough, and a second condition comprising a high impedance state wherein communication is prevented therethrough.

12. The computer-implemented method of claim 10 , wherein analyzing provides for band-pass tracking associated with at least one of the plurality of analog sensors, and detecting an anomalous condition based on band-pass tracking.

The computer-implemented method of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of input channels comprises a first input connected to a corresponding first analog sensor, and a second input connected to a corresponding second analog sensor, where the first input and second input are switchable between a plurality of output channels comprising a first output and a second output in multiplexed configuration with many inputs and many outputs.

14. An apparatus for monitoring data collection in an industrial environment, the apparatus comprising:

a data collector communicatively coupled to a plurality of input channels, wherein the plurality of input channels receives data from a plurality of analog sensors to form collected data; a data storage structured to store a plurality of data collection management plans comprising template data collection routines for collection of data wherein the plurality of input channels receives data from a plurality of analog sensors;

a data acquisition circuit structured to interpret a plurality of detection values from the collected data, each of the plurality of detection values corresponding to at least one of the plurality of input channels; and

a data analysis circuit structured to analyze the collected data and select one of the plurality of data collection management plans,

wherein the selected one of the plurality of data collection management plans is selected is at least in part based on a data analysis of received data from the plurality of analog sensors, and

wherein the selected one of the plurality of data collection management plans optimizes a data collection routine by changing a predetermined number of analog sensors of the plurality of analog sensors assigned to the plurality of input channels for data collection.

15. The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the template data collection routines comprise a plurality of hierarchical templates.

16. The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the data analysis circuit alters the data collection by adjusting an auto-scaling value associated with data collection from one the plurality of input channels.

The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein at least one of the plurality of analog sensors is selectively operable between a first condition comprising a low impedance state wherein communication passes therethrough, and a second condition comprising a high impedance state wherein communication is prevented therethrough.

18. The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the data storage is structured as a distributed data storage across a plurality of locations.

19. The apparatus of claim 14 , further comprising a cloud data management service configured to store at least a portion of the collected data.

The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the plurality of input channels comprises a first input connected to a corresponding first analog sensor, and a second input connected to a corresponding second analog sensor, wherein the first input and second input are switchable between a plurality of output channels comprising a first output and a second output in a multiplexed configuration with many inputs and many outputs.
