NERIDRONIC ACID FOR TREATING COMPLEX REGIONAL PAIN SYNDROME
Oral dosage forms of osteoclast inhibitors, such as neridronic acid, in an acid or a salt form can be used to treat or alleviate pain or related conditions, such as pain associated with complex regional pain syndrome.
1 . A method of treating complex regional pain syndrome, comprising parenterally administering neridronic acid, in an acid form or a salt form, to a human being in need thereof, wherein the neridronic acid is in a dosage form that is a solution.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the complex regional pain syndrome is accompanied by edema.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the complex regional pain syndrome is accompanied by severe pain.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the complex regional pain syndrome is accompanied by hyperalgesia.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the parenteral dose of the neridronic acid is about 5 mg to about 500 mg.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the parenteral dose of the neridronic acid is about 5 mg to about 200 mg.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the parenteral dose of the neridronic acid is about 10 mg to about 150 mg.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the human being is suffering from complex regional pain syndrome type I.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the human being is suffering from complex regional pain syndrome type II.
10 . A method of treating debilitating pain associated with complex regional pain syndrome, comprising parenterally administering neridronic acid, in an acid form or a salt form, to a human being suffering from complex regional pain syndrome that is accompanied by debilitating pain.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the parenteral dose of the neridronic acid is about 10 mg to about 500 mg.
12 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the parenteral dose of the neridronic acid is about 50 mg to about 150 mg.
13 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the parenteral dose of the neridronic acid is about 20 mg to about 200 mg.
14 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the neridronic acid is administered in combination with a zoledronic acid.
15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the zoledronic acid is administered orally.
16 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the zoledronic acid is administered intravenously.
17 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the zoledronic acid is the most potent bisphosphonate administered.
18 . A method of treating debilitating pain associated with complex regional pain syndrome, comprising administering a daily oral dose of about 10 mg to about 1,000 mg of neridronic acid, in a salt form or an acid form, to a human being suffering from debilitating pain associated with complex regional pain syndrome.
19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the oral daily dose of the neridronic acid is about 50 mg to about 500 mg.
20 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the oral daily dose of the neridronic acid is about 100 mg to about 500 mg.
21 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the oral daily dose of the neridronic acid is about 150 mg to about 300 mg.
22 . The method of claim 18 , wherein a prior therapy for complex regional pain syndrome has failed in the human being.
23 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the neridronic acid is in an oral dosage form that is a tablet, a coated tablet, a cachou, a capsule, a caplet, or a troche.
24 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the human being is suffering from complex regional pain syndrome type I.
25 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the human being is suffering from complex regional pain syndrome type II.
26 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the neridronic acid is administered in combination with an oral zoledronic acid.
