Abstract

A display control method executed by a terminal, the terminal including a display including a screen and at least one processor, the method including displaying, using the at least one processor, a first video content on a first area of the screen; generating, using the at least one processor, a screenshot of the first area of the screen in response to accepting a command to capture an image of the first video content being played back; and displaying, using the at least one processor, the generated screenshot in a second area of the screen. When the screenshot is displayed in the second area, the first video content continues to be played back in the first area of the screen.

Claims (48)

1. A display control method executed by a terminal, the terminal including a display including a screen and at least one processor, the method comprising:

displaying, using the at least one processor, a first video content on a first area of the screen of the terminal;

receiving, using the at least one processor, a command to capture an image of the first video content being played back;

determining, using the at least one processor, whether a current display mode of the terminal is suitable for generating a screenshot of the first area;

changing, using the at least one processor, the current display mode of the terminal based on results of the determining whether the current display mode of the terminal is suitable, wherein the suitable display mode is a full screen playback of only the first video content;

generating, using the at least one processor, the screenshot of the first area of the screen in response to the received command to capture the image of the first video content being played back; and

displaying, using the at least one processor, the generated screenshot in a second area of the screen, the displaying the generated screenshot including continuing the play back of the first video content on the first area.

2. The display control method as claimed in claim 1 , the method further comprising:

adjusting, using the at least one processor, dimensions of the second area and the first area to not overlap each other.

3. The display control method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the displayed second area overlaps the displayed first area.

4. The display control method as claimed in claim 1 , the method further comprising:

accepting, using the at least one processor, a share command to share the generated screenshot with at least one sharing user; and

transmitting, using the at least one processor, the screenshot to an information processing apparatus in response to the share command, the transmitting the screenshot including a command to the information processing apparatus to distribute the screenshot to the at least one sharing user.

5. The display control method as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the at least one sharing user has been selected in advance.

6. The display control method as claimed in claim 4 , the method further comprising:

receiving, using the at least one processor, a content of a response to the shared screenshot from the at least one sharing user; and

displaying, using the at least one processor, the received content in the first area of the terminal.

The display control method as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the transmitting the screenshot further includes transmitting information related to a network location where the first video content is stored, the transmitted information allowing a terminal of the at least one sharing user to play back the first video content.

8. The display control method as claimed in claim 7 , wherein the transmitting the screenshot further includes transmitting information identifying a time position within the first video content corresponding to the screenshot.

9. A terminal comprising:

a display including a screen; and

at least one processor configured to execute computer readable instructions to,

display a first video content on a first area of the screen,

receive a command to capture an image of the first video content being played back,

determine whether a current display mode of the screen is suitable for generating a screenshot of the first area,

change the current display mode of the screen based on results of the determining whether the current display mode of the screen is suitable, wherein the suitable display mode is a full screen playback of only the first video content,

generate the screenshot of the first area of the screen in response to the received command to capture the image of the first video content being played back; and

displaying the generated screenshot in a second area of the screen,

the displaying the generated screenshot including continuing the play back of the first video content in the first area.

10. A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium having a program stored therein for causing at least one processor to execute a process of display control, the process comprising:

displaying a first video content on a first area of a display screen of a terminal;

receiving a command to capture an image of the first video content being played back;

determining whether a current display mode of the display screen is suitable for generating a screenshot of the first area;

changing the current display mode of the display screen based on results of the determining whether the current display mode of the display screen is suitable, wherein the suitable display mode is a full screen playback of only the first video content;

generating the screenshot of the first area of the display screen in response to the received command to capture the image of the first video content being played back; and

displaying the generated screenshot in a second area of the display screen,

the displaying the generated screenshot including continuing the play back of the first video content in the first area.

11. The display control method as claimed in claim 4 , wherein

the at least one sharing user and a user of the terminal are participants in a chat room of a social networking service (SNS); and

the command to the information processing apparatus to distribute the screenshot to the at least one sharing user causes the information processing apparatus to distribute the screenshot to the at least one sharing user via the chat room.

12. The display control method as claimed in claim 11 , wherein

the at least one sharing user is a plurality of sharing users; and

each user of the plurality of sharing users receives the distributed screenshot via the chat room.

13. The display control method as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the transmitting the screenshot further includes:

transmitting a video content identifier of the first video content, the position of the screenshot, and a URL corresponding to the first video content, with the screenshot.

The display control method as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the command to the information processing apparatus to distribute the screenshot to the at least one sharing user causes the information processing apparatus to distribute the screenshot to the at least one sharing user via a timeline of a user of the terminal on a SNS.

15. The display control method as claimed in claim 4 , further comprising:

receiving, using the at least one processor, playback statistics corresponding to positions in the first video content in response to the at least one sharing user viewing the first video content.
