Patient Selectable Joint Arthroplasty Devices and Surgical Tools
Disclosed herein are tools for repairing articular surfaces repair materials and for repairing an articular surface. The surgical tools are designed to be customizable or highly selectable by patient to increase the speed, accuracy and simplicity of performing total or partial arthroplasty.
1 . A system for joint arthroplasty for repairing a joint of a patient, the system comprising:
a first template, the first template including:
at least one first template surface for engaging a first surface of the joint of the patient, at least a portion of which first template surface substantially matches at least a portion of the first surface of the joint of the patient; and
at least one guide for directing movement of a surgical instrument;
a second template, the second template including:
at least one second template surface for engaging a second surface of the joint of the patient, at least a portion of which second template surface substantially matches at least a portion of the second surface of the joint; and
at least one guide for directing movement of a surgical instrument; and
a linkage for cross-referencing the first template and the second template,
wherein the joint is one of a hip joint, knee joint and an ankle joint.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the first surface of the joint and the second surface of the joint are opposing surfaces of the joint.
3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the first surface of the joint and the second surface of the joint are opposing articulating surfaces of the joint.
