CROSS-LINKED COLLAGEN COMPRISING METALLIC ANTICANCER AGENTS
The disclosure describes collagen constructs comprising anticancer agents, preferably, platinum, and related methods.
- 11 . (canceled)
. A method of manufacturing an anticancer cross-linked collagen construct comprising cross-linked collagen and an anticancer amount of platinum, wherein said cross-linked collagen comprises collagen and one or more cross-linking agents which cross-link the collagen in said construct, wherein at least a portion of the platinum is incorporated into the construct by chelation to said one or more cross-linking agents, and wherein the platinum is capable of being released in vivo when administered to a subject, the method comprising contacting the cross-linked collagen with the anticancer amount of platinum, to provide the anticancer cross-linked collagen construct.
- 14 . (canceled)
. The method of claim 12 , wherein at least one of the one or more cross-linking agents comprises a 1,2-benzoquinone and/or a 1,2-dihydroxyphenyl moiety.
. The method of claim 15 , where the platinum is chelated at least in part to the 1,2-benzoquinone and/or the 1,2-dihydroxyphenyl moiety.
. The method of claim 12 , wherein the one or more cross-linking agents are selected from the group consisting of NDGA, 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine, dopamine, 3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde, 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid, and tannic acid.
. The method of claim 12 , wherein the platinum is platinum (II).
. The method of claim 12 , wherein the platinum is platinum (IV).
. The method of claim 12 , wherein the platinum is in the form of a cis-diamino platinum salt.
