Abstract

A mobile terminal device includes a touch panel where a specified input operation is performed with an indicator, an input detection unit, and an operation determination unit. The input detection unit detects the pattern of the input operation based on the position of the indicator on the touch panel, and decreases the frequency of execution of processing arranged to detect the input operation performed on the touch panel when an input operation performed on the touch panel is not detected over a specified time period. When the pattern of the input operation is detected in the case where the execution frequency of the processing arranged to detect the input operation is low, the operation determination unit causes a controlled unit determined to be an operation target in relation to the pattern of the input operation to execute a specified operation.

Claims (46)

1. A mobile terminal device comprising:

a display;

a touch panel configured to detect input operations; and

circuitry configured to:

control the terminal to enter a suspend state so that the display does not display an image when an input operation is not detected on the touch panel for a predetermined time period and that the detection rate in the suspend state is lower than the detection rate in an active state; and

control the display to display a home screen without a password input by a user when the touch panel detects a pattern of input operations based on the position of an indicator touching or approaching the touch panel during the suspend state.

2. The mobile terminal device according to claim 1 , wherein

the input operation is a touch operation on the touch panel.

3. The mobile terminal device according to claim 1 , wherein

the touch panel is a capacitance touch panel.

4. The mobile terminal device according to claim 1 , wherein

the indicator is a user's finger.

5. The mobile terminal device according to claim 1 , wherein

the pattern of input operations includes sequential touch inputs at predetermined areas of the touch panel.

6. The mobile terminal device according to claim 1 , wherein

the pattern of input operations includes a plurality of touch inputs performed at a plurality of areas of the touch panel.

7. The mobile terminal device according to claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to control the mobile terminal device to shift from the suspend state to an active state when the touch panel detects the pattern of input operations.

8. A method of operating a mobile terminal device, the method comprising the steps of:

detecting input operations on a touch panel;

controlling the terminal device to enter a suspend state so that no image is displayed when an input operation is not detected on the touch panel for a predetermined time period and that the detection rate in the suspend state is lower than the detection rate in an active state; and

displaying a home screen without a password input by a user when the touch panel detects a pattern of input operations based on the position of an indicator touching or approaching the touch panel during the suspend state.

9. The method according to claim 8 , wherein

the input operation is a touch operation on the touch panel.

10. The method according to claim 8 , wherein

the touch panel is a capacitance touch panel.

11. The method according to claim 8 , wherein

the indicator is a user's finger.

12. The method according to claim 8 , wherein

the pattern of input operations includes sequential touch inputs at predetermined areas of the touch panel.

13. The method according to claim 8 , wherein

the pattern of input operations includes a plurality of touch inputs performed at a plurality of areas of the touch panel.

14. The method according to claim 8 , further comprising:

controlling the mobile terminal device to shift from the suspend state to an active state when the touch panel detects the pattern of input operations.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable medium including computer program instructions, which when executed by a mobile terminal device, cause the mobile terminal device to:

detect input operations on a touch panel;

control the terminal device to enter a suspend state so that no image is displayed when an input operation is not detected on the touch panel for a predetermined time period and that the detection rate in the suspend state is lower than the detection rate in an active state; and

display a home screen without a password input by a user when the touch panel detects a pattern of input operations based on the position of an indicator touching or approaching the touch panel during the suspend state.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein

the indicator is a user's finger.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein

the pattern of input operations includes sequential touch inputs at predetermined areas of the touch panel.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein

the pattern of input operations includes a plurality of touch inputs performed at a plurality of areas of the touch panel.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the computer program instructions further cause the mobile terminal device to:

control the mobile terminal device to shift from the suspend state to an active state when the touch panel detects the pattern of input operations.
