Abstract

Methods, systems comprising one or more computer systems including a combination of hardware and software, and computer program products store, in a database associated with a user account, an inventory of computer applications and associated program data stored on a first mobile device. The method, system, and computer program product receive an indication from the first mobile device that program data associated with a first one of the computer applications stored on the first mobile device is to be stored on a second mobile device and receive an identifier corresponding to the user account from the second mobile device. After receiving the indication from the first mobile device and receiving the identifier from the second mobile device, the method, system, and computer program product transmit the program data associated with the first one of the computer applications to the second mobile device when the first one of the computer applications is compatible with the second mobile device.

Claims (24)

1. A system comprising one or more computer systems including a combination of hardware and software to:

store, in a database associated with a user account, an inventory of computer applications and associated program data stored on a first mobile device;

receive an indication from the first mobile device that program data associated with a first one of the computer applications stored on the first mobile device is to be stored on a second mobile device;

receive an identifier corresponding to the user account from the second mobile device; and

after receiving the indication from the first mobile device and receiving the identifier from the second mobile device, transmit the program data associated with the first one of the computer applications to the second mobile device when the first one of the computer applications is determined to be compatible with the second mobile device.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more computer systems work in conjunction with a download-assistance tool at the second mobile device to assist with the transmitting, to the second mobile device, of the program data associated with the first one of the computer applications.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein if the one or more computer systems determine that the first one of the computer applications is incompatible with the second mobile device, the one or more computer systems transmit to the second mobile device a version of the first one of the computer applications that is compatible with the second mobile device.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more computer systems communicate wirelessly with the first and second mobile devices over a mobile network.

5. A computer program product, tangibly embodied in a non-transitory computer readable medium, the computer program product comprising instructions to be executed by at least one computer system to:

store, in a database associated with a user account, an inventory of computer applications and associated program data stored on a first mobile device;

receive an indication from the first mobile device that program data associated with a first one of the computer applications stored on the first mobile device is to be stored on a second mobile device;

receive an identifier corresponding to the user account from the second mobile device; and

after receiving the indication from the first mobile device and receiving the identifier from the second mobile device, transmit the program data associated with the first one of the computer applications to the second mobile device when the first one of the computer applications is determined to be compatible with the second mobile device.

6. The computer program product of claim 5 , wherein the at least one computer system works in conjunction with a download-assistance tool at the second mobile device to assist with the transmitting, to the second mobile device, of the program data associated with the first one of the computer applications.

7. The computer program product of claims 5 , wherein if the at least one computer system determines that the first one of the computer applications is incompatible with the second mobile device, the at least one computer system transmits to the second mobile device a version of the first one of the computer applications that is compatible with the second mobile device.

8. The computer program product of claim 5 , wherein the at least one computer system communicates wirelessly with the first and second mobile devices over a mobile network.

9. A method using one or more computer systems including a combination of hardware and software, the method comprising:

storing, in a database associated with a user account, an inventory of computer applications and associated program data stored on a first mobile device;

receiving an indication from the first mobile device that program data associated with a first one of the computer applications stored on the first mobile device is to be stored on a second mobile device;

receiving an identifier corresponding to the user account from the second mobile device; and

after receiving the indication from the first mobile device and receiving the identifier from the second mobile device, transmitting the program data associated with the first one of the computer applications to the second mobile device when the first one of the computer applications is determined to be compatible with the second mobile device.

10. The method of claim 9 , further comprising the one or more computer systems working in conjunction with a download-assistance tool at the second mobile device to assist with the transmitting, to the second mobile device, of the program data associated with the first one of the computer applications.

11. The method of claim 9 , wherein if the one or more computer systems determine that the first one of the computer applications is incompatible with the second mobile device, the one or more computer systems transmit to the second mobile device a version of the first one of the computer applications that is compatible with the second mobile device.

12. The method of claim 9 , wherein the one or more computer systems communicate wirelessly with the first and second mobile devices over a mobile network.
